Hi, everyone. Here's what we have been going through. I'm a woman with

self-diagnosed autism. I have three children with autism traits, one formally

diagnosed. I'm struggling with my attitude towards my daughter, who is 6, and

has undiagnosed autism. She is the spitting image of me, and even without

autism, that's annoying and difficult. She has all my bad traits and for some

reason I tolerate them in me, but not her. I have low self-esteem and I think

I'm projecting some of that self-hatred onto her. I realize that autism

presents differently in girls, but here's the situation. She is very high

functioning, with just a touch of autism. She whines and screams about

everything and is very stubborn. Yet, she is quite capable to stop her crying

on a dime when the stakes are high enough. She can fold laundry, do schoolwork,

etc. She argues with us about everything. The dynamic going on is that she

fusses and the rest of the family escalates it. We're trying, but I could use

some perspective from what she may be experiencing and maybe that will help me

to " behave " and parent her better. Things are slowly getting better as I start

to see what's going on and correct it.

Thanks,

Corinne
