I took today off work and treated myself to a virgin yoga practice, Simon Low's Yin & Yang Yoga.  I did both practices, which came to 90 minutes.I treasure this practice.  He ended the practice with a quote from Rumi which moved me to tears:

Some Kiss We Want

There is some kiss we want with

our whole lives, the touch of

spirit on the body. Seawater

begs the pearl to break its shell.

And the lily, how passionately

it needs some wild darling! At

night, I open the window and ask

the moon to come and press its

face against mine. Breathe into

me. Close the language-door and

open the love-window. The moon

won’t use the door, only the window. The yang practice was lovely.  It takes place on a beach and Simon I'd say is in his 60's and from the UK and has a lovely voice.  This flow it different from most vinyasa practices and has a kundalini type warm-up followed by t'ai chi movements, then it moves into a warrior 1, side angle, reverse warrior, arm circles in a lunge, and even includes a flying dragon pose with a gentle karate kick.  It's 30 minutes long and warms up you for tbe hour long yin yoga practice.

You need a bolster for this,  but I just used my bolster shaped sofa pillow and tightly rolled 2 blankets around it to make it bigger and firmer and it worked great!  My back, shoulders and hips all feel very relaxed and stretched out.  He explains what meridians are being used and I could feel my chi throughout this practice.

I wish Simon Low had more dvd's out there, because I'd buy them all. If you love yoga, I'd say this one is a must-have.I'd still like to do some more athletic yoga, so we'll see if it happens!

Namaste,
