Guest guest
I have nothin' but dummbells and a reallllllly short bar with reallllllly light weights I got off freecycle a long time ago. Space might be an issue, depends on if I can store it vertically (without weights on it). I'm thinking probably just a straight bar because I'm not creative with workouts and just follow the instructors and so far, I haven't seen any use a curl bar. Thanks for the help! Re: Tips for buying a barbell I have a few types of barbells and both types of weights. I would assume you have standard weights (the ones with the smaller holes vs Olympic weights with larger holes) You can get a straight bar or a curl bar. The straight bar is just that but the curl bar has two v shapes where you can vary your grip to change the way it hits your muscle. If space is an issue the curl bars tend to be shorter. >> My recent journey into Cathe and Amy has me thinking that I'd really like a barbell. I have tiny one that I've never used so I probably should try it but the weights are super light so I'm not sure it will help anyway. So... if you wanted to buy a barbell, and you've never used one before, what would you buy, where would you get it, what would you look for and how much would you expect it to cost? Do you have to have a bench (I have the TransFIRMer and a full size aerobic step that has two sets of risers plus one set of slanted risers)? I have no idea if I'll actually get one. I like to play with the idea of buying things more than I like spending money! Anyway, if you were new to barbells but wanted to get into it, what would you do?> > >
