Guest guest
I have been dealing with sudden blood pressure spikes, etc. for over 4 years now. Recently I had a sudden spike of blood pressure 195/98 with sudden severe dizziness. I went to the ER and basically told it was anxiety. About 1 week later I picked up my medical records and learned that the CT scan (used to rule our a blot clot in my lungs) showed a 1.32 cm adenoma and that I also had blood in my urine. The ER doctor failed to tell me this. So I went to a university hospital endocrinologist thinking that I would get better care. The doctor suspected that I had a pheochromocytoma. That was ruled out with the plasma metanephrine test. After almost 2 weeks he has told me that all the blood tests that he took are normal. The aldosterone blood test from what I am reading is susposed to be done in a lying down position, done after fasting over night, & no ace inhibitor in your system. Well, I took lisinopril that morning, did not fast, & was sitting up when I took the test about 6 p.m. I am having off and on pain in the adrenal/kidney area & my kidneys seem to empty better at some times more than others. Does the aldosterone test have to be done under the conditions that I stated? The endocrinologist basically told me that I probably have anxiety problems. So I am back to the beginning now in trying to find out what is wrong with me. I am so ill most days that I am in bed a good part of the day & night. I need some advice, please!!
