I found this on a site which sells products to make perfumes, soaps, etc from.

I was wondering if anyone here has run into this in their work? If so what did

you do to meet regulations.

*********alcohols are based on phthalate free SDA 40B alcohol. SDA 40B is

denatured by adding 1/8 gallon of t-Butyl alcohol and 1/16oz. of Bitrex to 100

gallons of alcohol. This formula is denatured with safe commonly used

ingredients. T-Butyl alcohol is a minor part of many alcoholic beverages as a

byproduct of fermentation. The Bitrex aka Mr. Yuck makes the product undrinkable

because of the bitter flavor. Bitrex wil make your product safer because it will

help prevent accidental ingestion by children. The FDA also requires the

addition of Bitrex to all Bay rum and alcohol to toilet waters aka perfume to

aftershave (CFR 20.102). Compliance with TTB and FDA rules is easy using our

alcohol blends.

The US Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms restricts the resale of

drinking or beverage alcohol in perfumes and related products, regardless of

whether you add essential oils, absolutes or other scenting materials. Adding

beverage alcohols, such as vodka, to perfumes and then selling them is against

the law because it is considered serving alcohol. Permits are required to use

drinkable alcohol. In order to stay within the law, you must use the formulas

specified by US ATF for cosmetic applications. Local liquor control rules may

also apply to beverage alcohol use in cosmetics and perfumes.

You must also obtain a license to use specially denatured alcohol directly from

ATF and have your formula approved, if you do not use one of the general use

formulas. Our Perfumery Blends have been approved for unrestricted use in

cosmetics by the ATF eliminating the need for your uses to be regulated by the

ATF.

Thank you,

Willow
