Hi!

I don't know if any of you are from Kentucky and would like to contribute to this event? Or know any farmers from Kentucky? Let myself or Liz Reitzig know. Also, if any of you are in the DC area on March 16th, I hope you can come.

Best,

Amazing opportunity for Kentucky Farms!!!

The National Independent Consumers and Farmers Association (NICFA) is hosting the 5th annual Farm Food Voices DC -- the Small Farm and Ranch Grassroots Lobby Day and legislative Reception. Each year NICFA hosts an event on Capitol Hill called Farm Food Voices DC where we bring the faces and voices of America’s small farms to our elected representatives. As part of the day, we organize a reception for the legislators and their staff featuring foods from America’s small, sustainable farms prepared by some of the regions top chefs. Each year, we work through a Senate or House office to secure the room for the reception. This year, our sponsoring Senator is Senator Rand from Kentucky. Because of this, we would very much like to feature products from Kentucky farms. I would like to give Kentucky farms the opportunity to showcase item(s) from your farm.

Below, please see our invitation to farmers and chefs to participate. If you are able to donate food items for this reception, please let me know as soon as possible. I’ve attached the flier explaining a little more about the event if you are unfamiliar with it. You can also visitwww.FarmFoodVoicesDC.com for some background. If you are able to contribute something, quantity is really up to you.

If you are able to participate, I will work to pair you with one of the local restaurants or chefs who can best work with your particular item and work with you to arrange an appropriate delivery day to receive the products you are able to send.

Please pass along to other Kentucky farms who might be interested.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at any time!

What is Farm Food Voices DC?

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.â€

--Margaret Mead

Each spring, while farmers across the country plant seeds in the ground, Farm Food Voices DC plants seeds in the minds and hearts of legislators, seeds that lead to a bountiful harvest of freedom for farmers and consumers to provide for each other. As our farmers cultivate the land for a rich yield in the future, so must we build and cultivate relationships with our legislators.

The average consumer is experiencing a food renaissance. Consumers realize that the best ingredients come from local small, independent farms, and they strive to preserve access to these foods. Small-scale farmers are the new super heroes as they find ways to bring life back to the earth while cultivating amazing food. As our heroes encounter the regulatory and legislative burdens of selling to their consumers, they are speaking out. Consumers, listening to farmers, have joined voices with them
