I work for a very cool company that gives lots of $ to charitable organizations of many kinds, which means that there are often opportunities to volunteer during work hours and get paid for it.  This is the second time my friend and I signed up for clearing trails at Forest Park.

Forest Park is the nation's largest forested park within a city's limits.    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_Park_%28Portland,_Oregon%29

Last year we lopped ivy off trees, which was a tremendous shoulder and upper back workout; today we used a " whip " which is a machete that looks a bit like a toothy rake to wack three feet of trail on the uphill side of the trail and one foot of the downhill side of the trail, raking it all away to the downhill side and lopping off overhanging branches.  Other people were flattening squishy muddy parts and raking gravel with different tools. We did this for two solid hours.

My buns are still sore from Tony's One on One workout, and now they are even more sore from working and hiking up hills in the forest!  It was a lot of fun.  When I got home I took a hot bath and crashed - slept for 4 hours!

I may do some yoga tonite.  I feel the need!  My toes got bunched up in my hiking boots and tonite I'm definitely wearing my yoga toes (toe separators for proper realignment and relief) while I watch some more episodes of Breaking Bad.
