Guest guest
Make sure your form is good, not bending your wrists or swinging your arms or anything. There are lots of curl variations (hammer, preacher, concentration, barbell, dumbbell, cable, etc.). So, if say straight barbell curls are what's hurting the elbow, try dumbbell hammer curls. Find a variation that doesn't kill. Also, make sure you're not going too heavy. If you haven't been doing them regularly, ease into it instead of jumping right back to your old weights. > Biceps is my least favorite to work. Perhaps because that is the > weakest part of my body. Guest guest
Alwyn Cosgrove thinks bicep curls are a waste of time anyway, so just don't do them. He says muscles don't get stronger in that kind of isolated way. He likes exercises that work whole muscle groups -- like for arms pushes and pulls. felicity > Make sure your form is good, not bending your wrists or swinging your > arms or anything. Guest guest
I was getting pain from them too, then Coach Mike pointed out that I was letting my elbows stick out, away from my body. It takes concentrated effort for me to keep my elbows in, especialy when I was heavier....there is just so much 'me' between my elbow and my ribcage! But, if I tuck them in and keep them there I do not get pain. Barbara > > Biceps is my least favorite to work. Perhaps because that is the > weakest part of my body. Guest guest
Really! I love him then! LOL I would much prefer not to do isolated bicep exercises! > >> Biceps is my least favorite to work. Guest guest
Still kind of down, but I'll bet a day or two of eating right will help. Thanks for asking. Guest guest
Even though he says that and he has a point, I still do bicep curls, usually as part of a bigger movement like a squat/hammer curl combo or a lunge/curl combo. I wouldn't drop them altogether unless you have enough serious pulling moves to take up the slack. And I really wouldn't drop them if you're also doing six sets of tricep exercises. Keep it balanced. Maybe you do isolated bicep/tricep, maybe you do a more general push/pull but you want to give both muscle groups equal attention. > Alwyn Cosgrove thinks bicep curls are a waste of time anyway, so just > don't do them. Guest guest
ok wah wah. I need to do them since I am starting out again. Once I get into more freeweights, dips, pullups again. then I will do more of a combo. BLAH to biceps > > Alwyn Cosgrove thinks bicep curls are a waste of time anyway, so just > > don't do them.
