Hi,

You could try giving it about an hour after dinner and just before

going to bed. That would be empty stomach too and not worry about

giving food after PD.

I have to give Ojibwa tea at night and that's why i give PD first

thing in the morning and breakfast about 1/2 hour later. That's the

best we could do.

Hi Robin,

I just asked PD this very question and they said for *maximum*

benefit it could be given as little as 15 minutes before eating.

That leads me to believe you could give it even closer to food, with

perhaps the effectiveness being diminished just a bit?

Thanks ,

That's great. I'll just up the dosage a bit if given with food.

I appreciate your help,

Robin

Yes, it says for best results....

We still see good results giving with food, supplements and enzymes.

When he is having a flair-up, I will give on an empty stomach.

Primal Defense is from Garden of Life. I got mine from a health food

store. It sure is expensive though. It says certified organic HSO

probiotic formula and contains no dairy products, gluten or GMO (

whatever that is). The container gives a reference :

www.gardenoflifeusa.com. Sorry I don't know how to send a link,

someone has to tell me how thats done !?!

You may want to look at your local HFS. I know that the little one

here just started getting it and whole foods has the whole line of

garden of life products. The HFS here sells the caps for $38 and

the powder for $40.

The bottle I got says to start out with one a day or it can trigger a rapid

detox ... perhaps that's what happened for you?

Perhaps the powdered form would go down easier for you, if you mind the

pills.

My doc gave me the physician's version ... do you or anyone else have any

idea what the difference is?

Speaking of Primal Defense.

Not sure it is okay to do this but. . .

A new group started in November 2003 which is about Garden of Life products and

Jordan Rubin it's creator.

By the way he has a new book coming out in April 2004. I am sure it will

include all his products, hopefully there will not be to much selling, as that

will wreck the book for me.

The new group says it is not affiliated with the Garden of Life people and get

no profits from the information shared there.

Anyway here is the link to the new group.

Posted this to the other NT group as well so sorry for the cross post.

What is the best coconut oil to use? Expeller pressed or Extra Virgin. I am

considering the Garden of Life Extra Virgin.

Thanks

Extra virgin, no question about it, but I don't know anything about Garden

of Life's oil. I highly recommend Coconut Oil Supreme

(http://www.coconutoil-online.com/) and the first two virgin oils

Wilderness Family Naturals sells

Thanks so much for the links.

Why do you recommend those particular oils and can you tell me what makes it

They're processed at very low temperatures, and two of the three oils I

recommended are centrifuged and the other is made using some other process

which is supposed to be similarly benign. Also, they taste the best.

Yeah, I'm really stubborn about all that " easing " into things, LOL. Gets me

in trouble sometimes. I don't know what I would put the powder in. I have

all these bottles(6 mos supply) of pills, so I guess I'll be taking them for

a while. Hopefully with yogurt/kefir and kim chee I won't need them any

more. I could use less expenses. You could go to the primal defense sight

and read the label for the regular version to see if there is a difference.

Take care,

Michele

I think I can answer this one. Virgin Oil has not been heated, so the

enzymes are intact; it has not been refined or changed other than removing

it from the coconut. It has all the trace nutrients and properties we know

nothing about. I ordered the ine oil from WFN and it is fabulous.

Creamy white, clear like water when melted. Excellent for cooking, desserts,

smoothies, etc. Great for skin care. I got the 5 gallon size, since it

represented the most savings. They were very cool about getting it to me by

Christmas even though they were out of stock when I ordered.

Take care,

Michele

Apologies if someone's already covered this, but virgin oil has no enzyme

content to speak of. If it had enzymes, it wouldn't keep long at all.

Now that is enlightening. So the enzymes cause rancidity by breaking down the

oil. I get it. Thanks.

So you don't want the enzymes in the oil. The heat cause the enzymes to form.

Great info

Thanks

>The heat cause the enzymes to form.

No, not at all.

Enzymes are proteins which catalyze reactions. Some enzymes are

lipolytic. But heat doesn't form them, biological systems do. You'll find

enzymes in whole foods, but an oil is a refined food, and in general you

don't want it to have any enzyme content to speak of, or it won't keep, but

coconut oil can keep for months or even years, because it's been stripped

of water and enzymes. There are other fractions remaining in genuine

virgin oils, though, which you won't find in RBD oils, and those fractions

contribute both nutrition and flavor -- compare the taste of a nice virgin

centrifuged oil like Coconut Oil Supreme, which is deliciously aromatic and

redolent of coconut, with the near-total absence of all gustatory sensation

elicited by any RBD oil.

The virgin oil contains vit E an antioxidant. This is the built in

preservation method. That why you can keep it out of the fridge and

exposed to the air for up to three years and it doesn't go rancid.

This is according to " Tropical Traditions "

Hi,

I use 1 scoop of the Primal defense powder for my 7 yr old, 45 pound

child, so you can calculate the dose accordingly.
