I'm gong through my old magazines - Shape, Self, Health etc... In the November 2009 issue of Health magazine in the Question/Answer section of the magazine was the question "Do you really need to exercise to lose weight? And the Answer was "Yes, People who are physically active are far more likely to lose weight and keep it off." I don't want to re-type what the magazine says because of copyright laws but I will summarize it.Basically it said that the study last year that seemed to indicate that exercising had no impact on weight loss was misleading (said Church MD director of preventive research at Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, LA.) The study instead shows that exercising without eating healthy will not enable people to lose weight.

PhD professor of nutrition at Tufts University agrees. Dieting without exercise won't work either. The article also states that The National Weight Control Registry that follows how 6,000 people lose weight and keep it off, found that the most successful people work out at least 30 minutes every day. The article concludes by saying: "The truth: combining smart dieting and regular exercise offers the best chance to reach your weight-loss goals."I know for me that I have to eat healthy AND exercise to lose any weight. I have lost some weight by doing just that even though I am limited because of my ankle injury.Every little bit

helps, Jen
