Kombucha foot bath

Hello,

Over ten years ago I can remember reading posts from Ariana Esteele talking

every once in a while about how a farmer or a cowboy would come into her store

and get some Kombucha for the sole purpose of a foot bath....I can remember

thinking that could be an expensive foot bath and also a strange use of KT, but

I also wondered how effective it might be...

I always wanted to try this, especially given the fact of my bum shins and thin

skin condition way back then from venous stasis/ Peripheral vascular disease.

But i never did make that step to do that foot bath.

Well here we are many years later....I took a large Plastic bucket

(The container Fresh Step Kitty litter comes in ; 40 pound size) I brewed up 3

gallons of sugar tea and set about 2 quarts of Kombucha brew in it along with a

scoby. I used this size of bucket because I wanted to cover most of my calf and

also the fact that I wear a size 14 shoe. I made a cutout in the lid bucket and

taped a piece of muslin cloth over the 5 " by 7 " opening so the culture could

breath properly. I put a layer of washed and boiled pea gravel on the bottom of

the bucket because of the upright plastic bumps in the bottom of the bucket are

uncomfortable on the bottom of the feet.

I have been using my new Kombucha foot bath now for about a week and a half.

The skin condition and wound condition is definitely slowly improving. I try to

soak each foot and calf for about 1/2 an hour each. This is truly a great

addition to my use of KT.

I figure that I will feed the bucket every week with either a half of a gallon

or a full gallon of sugared tea to keep it viable and healthy. The Kombucha in

this bucket is definitely nothing that I am going to drink or share with anyone.

This KT is strictly to be used as a foot bath.

The surface skin on my shins is thankfully no longer onion skin thin and

delicate. In the distant past it had been very prone to tearing. The skin on

the lower mid 1/3 of the shin has been firm and could be considered somewhat

scaly.

On the right leg, try to imagine a branch of a tree of maybe 5 " diameter. Right

at that spot in the mid section of the branch, there had been some type of

injury to that branch many years ago. You might be able to visualize how the

injured section of the branch remained smaller and a rigid tough surface and

then abruptly the branch returns to the section where the wood is healthy.

I just tried to give a visual of my right shin for the past few years.

I must say....With my return to my beloved Kombucha and my new culture, the

marked delineation that I just described of my right shin

is now history!!! And the soaking of my shins in the Kombucha bath seems to be

promoting a faster improvement, also.

The skin condition of my calf's is far from perfect, but it is so improved, I

can honestly say that I am very, very enthused!!!

Like anyone, I grew tired of wearing the high grade compression hose (30 - 40 MM

pressure)... I have become used to having the condition at my ankles where the

sock brim is developing a 1/2 " indent like a tourniquet. Sad but true

This past couple of months I have come to notice that I only develop maybe an

1/8 " indent at the sock brim, which is insignificant in my way of looking at

it....

Also...Do you remember that God awful indent that I described earlier, liking my

shin to an injured branch on a tree?.... Well...I am happy to report that the

abrupt stair-step like indent on my shin is now gone and there is a smooth

surface transition in this area and the entire shin...!!!

Are my shins perfect?...No...Will they be?...I am not expecting it....Am I

enthused?

YOU BETCHA!!!

Enough said....Thank you for listening...

G'nite and God Bless each one of you,

Hank

Thanks Hank for this advice from 9 years ago. I am following your lead. Toenail fungus; tinea; venous eczema; I too have given up on the tourniquet but have mild ankle swelling as a result; a bunion and associated foot pain. I'll try anything! Cheers
