Hi ,

To clarify (aren't we ASers always clarifying?), my intent with the

previous post was to try to keep a jovial tone while also being

humorously sarcastic to what I took to be your implications.

My " honesty " which you prefer to indict is among my most noted traits.

Isn't this so with Aspies in general? As such, I assumed yours. I

would simply ask for reciprocation here.

As I said in my first post, I'm no longer a fan of debates. But I

also don't think dangerous misinformation should stand. My posts have

all been very consistent on those points. How more honest-intentioned

could I be? I only entered the fray because, of all the comments on

the Republican candidate's platform statement, I didn't see anyone

take him to task for favoring torture. Instead, there seemed to be

allot more talk about abortion.

In your posts, you seemed to be implying that things such as the Ban,

torture, exploitation of the poor, bullying, etc. are as old as the

hills, and to be expected. Well, so are infanticide, female

circumcision, slavery, rape, murder, etc. Just because they may be

" traditions " in certain contexts, doesn't mean they are to be casually

accepted in the US, or areas under our direct control (GITMO, Abu

Grahib) or in places that are significantly influenced by our foreign

policy and aid money (Israel, Saudi Arabia, and any mysterious lands

where our secret prisons under the " extraordinary rendition " programs

are located)--particularly among our leaders, and especially if those

leaders claim to hold by some Democratic, Legal or Christian moral

principles.

Thus, " Bushies " is not a slur. It's a description. One that's fitting

for neo-cons who hold their ideology as sacrosanct above all else,

including God, law, human rights, morals, etc. And their arrogant

unilateral canceling the some 400-year old *Writ of Habeas Corpus* is

merely a sad fact.*

As in the traditional " first cause " argument for creationism, the

source of any slur is not in the name " Bushies " ; rather, it is the

group's self-incriminating and indefensible actions. As such, they

only slur themselves.

If you felt some personal slur there, I suggest that you may want to

examine your own ideological relations to this morally-bankrupt

regime. Because, although we ASers are often reputed to be lacking

empathy, this group has proven itself to be without a tinge of

conscience.
