Guest guest
Hi -- My 14.5 y.o. has also been in and out of school. This is the longest she has stayed on campus in 3 years -- her first year of high school. Like Tom's son, she also shares about her condition -- not with EVERYONE, but with many. She even gave a talk about OCD in her science class in 7th grade, admitting she was afflicted. With so many kids having issues such as ADD, ADHD, etc, it's not as big of a stigma. My hubby and 11 y.o. also have OCD, so we are very open about discussing it in our house, with friends, and at church. I always remind my kids that EVERYONE has something wrong with them ( has Celiac's, Grandma has one short foot, I used to have phobias, has ADHD, Grandma S. has high blood pressure....) and remind them that we are so lucky that they don't have cancer. Also, I remind them that you have to be very smart to have OCD -- you have to do so much more thinking. Suzanne in CA
