Hi All!!

I have a couple of questions I hope maybe someone here can help with.

Blake had Blood work done last Tuesday. he went for IVIG last

Monday the day before the blood work.

The Endocrinologist Blake was referred to after the one he was going

to just did not come up to the plate, order the blood work. Blake

has a DX of Osteoporosis. So, in order to get the meds. Blake needs

we had to get several tests done.

the did a Total IgA test. Blake had this done 2 yrs. ago & it said

less than 5. the one done on Tuesday told us his Total IgA was less

than 1!!! Does anyone know if getting IVIG the day before could

have lowered this?

Also the last Endo who did his blood work for the Osteo. DX told us

all of Blake's blood work was excellent. So Why did he put him on

the Actonel. Which we have since found out that this med. is not

supposed to be give to children. Tuesdays testing told us that Blake

is deficient in both Vitamin A & D. Can the IVIG cause this or do

you think it was already low & the other Dr. was just too ready to

start Blaek on a " New " medicine to see if it would work? What can

cause Vita. A & D deficiency?

We were told that Blaek would be started on the IV form of Fosamax &

has a better chance of absorption. What would cause him to not

absorb these vitamins. his Calcium was good. They also did some

urine testing. All of these were in the High levels(the Home Health

Nurse is suppose to bring me a copy of all blood work tomorrow, I

can tell what teh Urine testing was. the nurse could not pronounce

the names...all endocrine if that gives any one an ideal as to what

I am talking about.

Also, while in the Endocrine office, the Dr's.(there were 2 of them)

noticed that Blake's eardrum was bulging with puss(he had a hole in

the ear drum which is a graft....he has no ear canal wall sue to

osteomyelitis in the mastoid cavity which spread to his skull bone

at the back of the neck....go figure......Blake!!!). We took him o e

Pediatrician the day after(Wed.) & YES the ear was still bulging

with yellow puss. We decided to put Blake on Oral meds. this time

to see what would happen. They also decided that his Broviac needed

to be cultured because of a little drainage. Well the cultures came

back as having " gram negative " bacteria growing on the out side. but

the blood was clean!!!! SO, my Question....Does having " less than 1

IgA increase the ear issues?

Any advice would be GREAT!!

S(mom to Blake CVID with Complete T-Cell Dysfunction)
