Bill, only 3 1/2 credits to go, that's great! I really hope things

look up after the holidays and he can get them in. He could do that

homebound maybe. But right now, just concentrate on getting him

well and functioning. Keep us updated and find some downtime to

relax yourself! You're on the right path.

Hi Bill,

This is great news that your son only has 3 1/2 credits left and the school

is understanding. Your family can now focus on getting healthy. Trust

me, you will see a big change in now that he is not expected to do

anything but get healthy. Going to school and working real hard to control the

OCD and being subjected to criticism and demands with no one understanding of

his illness was crushing him.

will be OK -----Just give him permission and time to heal his mind.

My prayers are with you,

Dana

Bill,

I'm sure it was a relief to hear that he only needs 3 1/2 credits! I'm

glad that he can still finish the school year during the second half of

the year. That gives you some time to get the meds and therapy working

for him. Hang in there. I know each day is a trial in itself right

now. My daughter was totally dysfunctional 3 different times

(hospitalized once for a month). She is now fully engaged in her life.

School, frieends, plays 2 instruments, ballet 3 times a week, extremely

social. You would never guess she was the same anxiety-ridden,

homebound child she was in May/June this year. She still has her quirks

and her OCD shows up now and then and I'm still trying to find the right

therapist for her, but in general, life is good. That can and will

happen for your son.

Hi Dina,

Thanks for the encouragement. My son is also gifted in music and

plays guitar and sax very well, he also sings. So far he seems to have

lost his joy for most everything. He therapist talked with him an xtra

1.5 hours last night. He lost a good friend in a fatal car crash this

summer. It never really sank in with him till later. Now his mother is

also trying to get back in his life as well. She scares him. He spent

several hours this afternoon at his friends grave, and sitting in the

car. He seems to be relieved that he will not be forced to go to

school right now. How many med changes did your daughter go thru

before they found the right one? We have tried so many, I wonder when

we will see any improvement. He is very alone now except for our

family here at home. Hope we all have a better tomorrow.

Hi Bill,

Take it one day at a time. You are doing what you feel you need to do for your

son, so that is the best thing for him.

My daughter will be 10 next month, was diagnosed at age 5 with severe ocd and

has been hospitalized 2 times as well as partial hospitalization for almost 2

years. It has taken 24 different medication combinations, and I can finally say

she's finally getting better. Not perfect, but improved.

It takes time, but he will be ok!!!!

Hang in there

hugs

Hi,

Today I took a note to school from my sons Dr. about his psyc. health.

The note stated due to his OCD being severe and the right med. dose

still being researched he may need to be out of school for an extended

period. I found out he only needs 3 1/2 credits to graduate. The

guidence lady said he could always come back the second half of the

year to get those. She asked about homebound teachers and working at

home. I told her he was unable to concentrate or focus at school or

home right now. She also pointed out if he misses 10 days in a row he

will be removed from the school role. We are just going to try to

relax and take it one day at a time and hope we find the right med and

the rigt dose. Please continue to pray for us as I do for you all.

Love, Bill
