Everytime 's employer changed insurance plans, we cringed, but we were always able to find one of the plans that would pay 100% of the IVIG. Guest guest
, Tim's ivig at home costs about $3-4k -- we pay the first $600 out of pocket for any medical expense and then the rest is covered. This doesn't include the lab tests. Pam Tim - age 15 cvid

Guest guest
It depends on the insurance. With our first insurance company we had to pay 20% and that came out to a large amount-especially with two boys getting it. The total for our portion each month (including hospital, physician and the IVIG) was about $1600 total (800 a piece) until we met our out of pocket max of 6k. With the current insurance we had to pay $255 per kid per infusion so a total of $510 per infusion until we meet our out of pocket max. On top of that we were only charged a $20 co-pay for each kid to the physician-so really the total was $550 ($275) for both each time. The hospital charged $1534 - so just paying our 20% of that is a lot... the last insurance did not charge the physician as a " visit " so we had to pay $125 each time-- this insurance sees it as a visit and our co-pay is all we pay. We had many reasons to go with SCIG vs IVIG. the vein access, being able to do it at home and of course the $$$ we save not having a hospital or doctor fee! Our current insurance runs it through our pharmacy benefit and we just pay a drug co-pay. IVIG at the hospital wasn't done that way. Guest guest
Dale, I wish we had your " luck " in finding plans to cover it.....we tend to battle every single thing....and have to fight...but I guess that is the " blues of IL " . I have new insurance now with my new job...no premiums and about the same coverage...but haven't had any SCIG go through yet, so will have to see if it is good or not.
