Guest guest
I usually just reject their application and try not to worry about it. I see their request as precisely that, a request. If I make such a request and ask someone else to add me as a contact, and they deny me, I usually assume that they want to just maintain their privacy. Tom Administrator Hi, might seem like a silly question to some, but I have recieved a personal message on another forum and this (whoever the person is) wants me to add them to my contact list. I don't know who they are - I don't know how to respond - I find it confusing - some total stranger sends me a personal message asking me to add them to my contact list with no information about themselves - what do I do? how do I respond? I don't want to offend them, but neither am I in the habit of adding just anyone to my contact list (messenger).
Guest guest
There are a large number of " Trolls " in the world... so be careful... I general will chat but if they are selling something or are stranger than I want to deal with I mark them to be ignored and report them to ... There are address verification services that do this. The ones I saw were not (yet) identified as actively involved in spam, but serve very little useful purpose. It's also possible that someone is using these services to augment their harvesting addresses from email lists. In either case, it's best to not respond. - s
Guest guest
> I don't want to offend them but they are offending you by their request with out a good reason. Q, What have they to gain that can be of any honest intention. If you right click on the email and select " properties " and select " details " you may get more clues about the email. Personally i (john) would not respond to their request until proof of intention is provided. .

Guest guest
Mmmmmmmm thanks - I think at some point I will send them a personal message back through forums asking if I know them; I am not about to add someone I do not know to my contact list. > >Hi, > > > >might seem like a silly question to some, but I have recieved a > >personal message on another forum and this (whoever the person is) > >wants me to add them to my contact list. Guest guest
Not even via personal message through the forum asking who they are - or whether they know me - I must admit I am vaugley curious as to why they PM'd me - but like I said previously I am not about to allow them onto my contact list without knowing who they are. > > >From: greebohere <julie.stevenson16@...> > > > > might seem like a silly question to some, but I have recieved a > > personal message on another forum and this (whoever the person is) > > wants me to add them to my contact list. > > There are address verification services that do this. Guest guest
It is not an email, but a personal message on another forum - I will ask them who they are and why they have asked to be added to my contact list, but not tonight - I am tired - had social overload today - could have done without someone I do not know asking to be added to my contact list - I am rather wary of people I do not know at moment. > > > I don't want to offend them > but they are offending you by their request with out a good reason. > > Q, What have they to gain that can be of any honest intention. > > If you right click on the email and select " properties " and select " details " > you may get more clues about the email. > > Personally i (john) would not respond to their request until > proof of intention is provided. > > . >

Guest guest
If it's anyone worth adding, they would have made sure you knew exactly who they were and exactly how you know them. If they aren't willing to do that, there's something fishy going on. DELETE. Do NOT add them to your IM list.
