Guest guest
Now days treatment responses are much better than they used to be , especially if you are treatment naive . Geno 1 is the hardest to treat , it can be done though . Have you ever gone through any interferon type of treatment before ? hep c viral load / typing and treatment I HAD LUNG CANCER IN 1992 @ 33YEARS OF AGE. UNDERWENT EXPERIMENTAL CHEMO FIVE DIFFERENT DRUGS CISPLATIN,5-FU,NAVALBINE,LEUCOVORIN AND ONE THAT BEGINS WITH A M.(CAN'T REMEMBER). THIS TREATMENT INVOLVED A SEVEN DAY CONTINUOUS INFUSION, THREE SEPERATE TIMES. LOTS OF SIDE EFFECTS. MY CONCERN IS TREATMENT W/INTERFERON FOR THE HEP. I AM SCEDUALED TO SEE A SPECIALIST ON THE 13TH. OF JULY. MY UNDERSTANING IS THAT THE TYPE I HAVE IN TREATMENT RESISTANT 1B. CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LITE ON THESE ISSUES?
Guest guest
I forgot to ask , are you still cancer free ? Attaining a sustained virological response will help your body get stronger , especially if you are at risk .Take care hep c viral load / typing and treatment I HAD LUNG CANCER IN 1992 @ 33YEARS OF AGE. Guest guest
Jax you are such a wealth of info..I noticed that when I gave my shot in my rolls of my tummy and then in my leg where I could see it go under the skin, it worked better...or atleast I have been having more sx since using my legs for my shots. Also do you know about riba dosing??? My doc in Oregon only gave me 800mg per day..and I weigh about 275lbs..I would think I would need more..so I had an unopen bottle from the last time, and I have added two more pills per day for now. I see my new doc on Monday. I am just going to tell him I am taking 1200 and let him write me a script..hopefully.. I just cant see reaching SVR with 800 per day, also I am 5'10..geri oh I have 3a
Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group! genotype 1 and 4 are the hardest to treat but with the pegylated INF's,, MORE ppl ARE reaching SVR. I know MANY 1b's who treated successfully.. so dont give up hope. I am/was 1a and was given only 15% chance of even responding and NO chance of reaching SVR,,, well I made it.. so dont believe that you cannot make it,, remember the old saying " IF you think you can,,, or not... you are right"... While the old monotherapy had really poor results for geno 1's, the newer pegylated ones are better and have a higher rate.. Do you have a choice of which INF you are going to use? Are you overweight? The reason Im asking is that IF you are overweight, and have geno 1, there are 'some' stats that show that using Scherrings Peg-Intron have a slightly HIGHER rate of SVR than Roche's Pegysys. The two drugs only have 1 molecule difference but with geno 1, one of the reasons its so hard to kill is that it hides in scar tisses and elsewhere besides the liver, so the Peg-Intron has a smaller particle so therefor the idea is that BECAUSE its smaller, it can get into the tiny spaces better than the larger molecule pegysys.. BUT Peg intron has a shorter half life than Pegysys. So IF IT WERE ME,, I'd seriously talk with your doc about the two different INF's available IF YOU ARE OVERWEIGHT.. Im sure that Liz can find find you the research info on this... anyway, welcome and dont think that you cannot kill this virus, cuz ya can,, Im living proof,, jaxnovara12002 <novara12002@...> wrote: I HAD LUNG CANCER IN 1992 @ 33YEARS OF AGE. Guest guest
The doc who prescribed that dose should be tarred and feathered , lol way to low a dose ! I know that riba is weight dosed and so you should be on a higher dose if the medicine is to be effective . The physicians desk reference states that the dosage for anyone over 75kg (150lb) should be 600mg in the morning and 600mg in the evening . TABLE 9. Recommended Dosing Body weight REBETOL Capsules </= 75 kg 2 × 200-mg capsules AM, 3 × 200-mg capsules PM daily p.o. > 75 kg 3 × 200 mg capsules AM, 3 × 200 mg capsules PM daily p.o.
