Guest guest
Hi , just a note re rash and acidic stools - our son had the red circle almost continuously since birth, somethimes it would get really bad, look like burnt skin, but it disappeared once we started LDN. have you tried that yet? I read another post mentioning the same thing happening with LDN. We also saw his skin burn through/come up in blisters, managed to trace it down to food: CURRANTS or raisins, especially yellow ones, do it every time. I am not sure that it is down to yeast (if currants feed yeast), probably more down to some kind of fermentation happening in the gut... could that be happening with Valtrex? My thinking here re: it not being a solely yeast issue is that we saw lots of yeast with LDN and still no rash or burns on bottom, and the red circle disappeared around that time. Guest guest
Natasa thought I'd mention the red ring has been here almost all the time, there are few instances, like 5 days in 30 that we don't have to apply Balmex. Thanks for the dope on LDN taking it away. Did it go away in days or weeks? Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! Guest guest
Hi Natasa- Thanks for suggesting LDN. I have heard of it but I know nothing about what it is supposed to do. BTW - my son does not have a red ring around his anus - his anus is only slightly red. The redness is mainly on the inside of his thighs, his scrotum and a little bit of his penis. Like I mentioned before, this is something that comes and goes and not frequently. It's happened maybe 4 times since birth. I have no idea what to attribute it to therefore, no idea how to treat it. I appreciate the feedback and I"ll look into LDN. Guest guest
, you might want to join the LDN group Autism_LDN there is a document in their file section called sth like 'LDN and Immunity' that explains a lot of what it is supposed to be doing. My two cents are that the main benefits we see with it are due to it actually regulating neuronal (as well as GI and immune) cell membrane potential, but the important thing is that lots of people see gains with it one way or another. Sadly not all kids respond, and some only see small gains, but it is definitely worth a try. There are also parental reports in the group's database files. Guest guest
Actually, that's an intersting observation Natasa. It could easily be a combination of metals, viral die off and yeast, but either way we see it mellow out with an antifungal so I don't suggest people try it without an antifungal. - Stan > > > > Hello everyone > > > > I've been a part of this group for about two weeks now and I amazed at > the > > amount of information that flows thru here. Guest guest
Natasa and group, Just to be clear, if someone gets what looks to be yeast type issues with Valtrex, I would suggest trying to clear it with LDN. LDN may have worked for your child's chronic issue, but I wouldn't risk trying it for this considering we have such a good track record of using an antifungal along with Valtrex. Maybe if that first line strategy didn't work, then trying something else is fine, but I can't say that I have ever seen a post where this type of thing didn't clear up when adding an antifungal. - Stan > > > > Hello everyone > > > > I've been a part of this group for about two weeks now and I amazed at > the > > amount of information that flows thru here. Guest guest
Stan, absolutely! I did not want to suggest to add LDN in order to deal with Valtrex-provoked yeast issues (LDN did ADD to our yeast problem in the beginning). My suggestion was that red skin or blisters possibly don't belong to the 'yeast' basket of problems at all...
