I would just go and find another doctor. There are cases of short term OCD

brought on by events and she sounds like she only deals with that. I would look

for another Dr. in your area who specializes in OCD. I would also suggest

looking for someone close because you will have to see this person possibly

weekly and you don't want to drive that far to see a Dr.

Thanks. The first place I contacted was the OC Foundation -- they have no

one in our area. I tried the AABT (if I got those initials right...), also no

one. I've contacted both the medical school & teaching hospital in our area

(Eastern Va Medical Center & Children's Hospital of the Kings Dominion) for

referrals & this doctor we just saw is all we came up with.

I may have to just sit with the phone book & call every freakin' mental

health office in the book & ask if anyone there does this therapy. BUT THEN

AGAIN.... I could get another " helpful " person like the infamous " front office

gal " who led me astray. HA. I think I'll have to be more aggressive & insist

on speaking with the therapist directly to confirm all information.

Did you by any chance check the surrounding counties near where you live.

Tell me again where do you live. I know you said near Duke but what is the name

of the town. I will try to look for you too.

Gads, you're a sweetie -- but we live in Virginia Beach, VA. We are in

Chapel Hill,NC quite often because my in-laws live there. So, to travel to

Duke

several times over the summer would not be a problem. Even to stay down

there for a couple/three weeks wouldn't be a problem. But we need to find

someone up by us for regular, ongoing visits.

Just about the same as to Duke.... right around 4 hours (more traffic up

near the DC area). If I only had the two places to choose from, I would have

go with NC... at least we have a free place to sleep & eat while we're there

(grandma & grandpas!!)
