Guest guest
Ok, as I'm ready to fly into motion to get my family out the door for Easter vacation - I just HAD to send a quickie about a wonderful day for my daughter yesterday.... As I've recently posted, she was just increased from 30mg Prozac/day to 40mg -- she's been on 40mg for about 4 days now. Showers have ALWAYS been, by far, the hardest area to gain any ground on with her. She had gotten to a point where she wouldn't even wash herself - she would just stand in there & cry and become hysterical out of pure fear of not being able to stop. It was horrible. WELL.... yesterday, I didn't even have to STAY in the bathroom with her!!! She was quite anxious at first, I said " honey, you will be FINE... I'll be right back in one minute, just get in the shower & start by washing your face - honest, I'll be right back in here " She started, did a couple things around the house -- came back in to the bathroom & she had her face done & hair wet - I said " EXCELLENT.... " I talked to her for a minute, left again to put more laundry away. Each time I left, I HAD to say " I'll be right back " .... every time I came back in (maybe about 5-10 minutes apart) she had something else done.... every time I walked in, she SMILED AT ME and I said " WOW.. LOOK AT YOU GO!!! YOU'RE DOING GREAT!!! " She did awesome.... she started to get VERY nervous around the bottom part of her body (legs - always have been the hardest thing, I don't know why - maybe because she's already exhausted by the time she gets there). She asked me to stay with her while she did her legs, so I did. I had to " talk her through " some parts there - reminding her to move on " you're done there... you're done there... keeping going " It was so funny too - each time I popped in, she SMILED.... oh my GOD.. MY DAUGHTER SMILED IN THE SHOWER --- you all have NO idea how long it's been since THAT happened!! And she would lean over towards me & purse her lips for a kiss... I'd kiss her & say " YOU ARE EXCELLENT.... " and off I would go... This child was SO excited when she got out of the shower - she was BEAMING all day (and so was I) WOOHOOO!!!!! I would SO like to see this happen again -- let's keep our fingers crossed. Maybe this was the difference in 10mg of Prozac???? We shall see!!! OH, also - as a reward, I drove her & her friend to the mall & gave her money to buy ice cream for them both at Cold Stone (her favorite ice cream place).
