Guest guest
I can only speak for myself (being a daily Prozac user). It takes about two weeks to see improvement. Your daughter is probably adjusting to the medication which has probably thrown her off a bit and tends to make me tired during certain times in the day. Give it a month and then decide. Just my opinion. Jayne
Guest guest
Hi again, I know alot of you have younger daughters and I'm sure you've read my postings about how difficult this past year has been for my daughter as she entered puberty. She's now 13. We recently started a low dose of Prozac, 2ml, once daily to see if it will take the edge off her emotional outbursts and really crazy days she has sometimes. However, she has only been on it since lastSaturday and I've been observing an increase of odd behaviors. I'm not sure if I want to continue with it. Has anyone on this list had experience with using prozac with their daughter? Thanks in advance, Re: Re: negative behavior, etc > Regarding PMS, has anyone put these children on any antidepressants or mood > stabilizers. I know that Prozac has a pill you can take one time a week > instead of every day. This may help??? > > Jayne > > > > >
Guest guest
I think prozac is like zoloft in the sense where it could take a few weeks before you notice any chances. I think most of the SSSI drugs are like that . Have you spoken to the dr about the changes or perhaps prozac has a website w/info on it. Guest guest
Dear Lyn, How much prozac is your daughter on and what positive effects did it have on her? Thanks, Re: Prozac use > Give it some time ... in our struggle to find the right meds for > Siarra she went through some bizarre behavior... took the fish out of > his bowl to pet him, etc... and she got extrememly hyper but as time > went on that subsided, so hang in there before you give up on this > med. > > Lyn > > > > > >
Guest guest
Dear Lyn, So in comparison to my daughter, your daughter is on a higher dosage. I think I have made the decision to take her off it. She was having an ok morning. Then I only gave her 1 ml instead of the normal two. Within a half hour, she got stuck on the toilet, rocking back and forth with that wide=eyed stare whining and crying. It wasn't bathroom related. I couldn't get her off the toilet for over 15 minutes. When I did, she ran around screaming and crying and holding her arm in a funny way. I also have been having problems getting her to eat the past 2 days and she's been drinking water like there is no tomorrow. I gave her some activated charcoal and within another half an hour she seemed to settle down. There seems to be more negatives than positives from this medication Re: Prozac use > Siarra is on 37.5mg of Zoloft... it has lessened her frustration and > taken away some obsessions she was having. > > Lyn > > > > Dear Lyn, > > How much prozac is your daughter on and what positive effects > did it > > have on her? > > Thanks, > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Conincidentally, I have been researching paxil bec. my friend's doctor has prescribed it to her daughter for what they believe she has, depression; and prozac and other drugs came up in the articles. I don't know if any of this helps, but the articles I read said that many patients have had problems getting off these drugs bec. when they do, the withdrawing of it or the drug itself, causes more symtoms and then the parents/doctors incorrectly think that that means the drug is more necessary since they don't realize these symptoms are caused by the drug. There was one article of interest where the PHD wrote an article in Journal of Family Life very much against these type of drugs. If anyone is interested, it is at: http://www.wildestcolts.com/john/voices.html I know this is a tough decision and I wish you are well. Guest guest
Dear Carolyn, Just wanted to let you know that is officially off Prozac. The side effects were worse than her usual behaviors that it was supposed to help. She 's now sleeping better, eating better and happier.
