Hi !

I use a magnetic bracelet for my wrist and boy, I sure can tell the

difference when I take it off. Beware of impostors! The strength of the

magnet really makes a difference. I am a distributor for a major magnetic

supplier but I buy my magnets elsewhere. The bracelet that I'm wearing has

10 magnets each 2000 gauss. I've tried weaker magnets on different areas and

they aren't as beneficial. I've also purchased a magnetic mattress pad but I

saw no difference, but maybe you would be different. Just remember that a

more expensive product doesn't make it better. If you need to know the

manufacturer of my bracelet, please feel free to e-mail me privately.

Good luck-

Diane

Lisbeth,

I can tell you that I have a set of the Nikken Magboys and I find them

to be extremely helpful for swelling and somewhat beneficial for pain

and stiffness, perhaps because they help my swelling so much. Here's a

link to the Nikken site:

http://www.nikken.com/

I'm not sure how you'd go about buying them in your part of the world

because these things are sold through distributors but perhaps if you

e-mailed or phoned Nikken, they could hook you up with the name of a

distributor near you. The person I bought mine from let me " try before

I buy " for a couple of weeks, so maybe you could negotiate a similar

arrangement to make sure they help you before laying out the cash. I

really don't know why they work, I just know they help me. I saw a

mention of magnet therapy in a book by Dr. Isador Rosenfeldt, who is a

quite moderate doctor who often appears on U.S. TV and he said he felt

magnets were a worthwhile treatment to try for pain and swelling, citing

success he'd had himself. I also saw a sports doctor on Oprah a couple

of weeks ago who also recommended trying magnets. If they help you, at

least it's only a one-time cost and it's not putting anything toxic into

your system. Hope you manage to find some. Also, just so you know, at

one point I also tried using an inexpensive magnet bracelet and it

didn't do a thing for me so I think there are different qualities in

magnets and unfortunately, it's the expensive kind that help me.

Hugs,

ive tried some inexpensive magnets in the past and they did nothing.

someone gave me a set called magna-bloc to try. it was remarkable how the

pain disappeared. they really work. they are distributed by amway,so they

are easy to find....and i think you can even pull up their website and buy

them direct. i swear by them...but they are very expensive....and the

single magnets are bulky, so its hard to wear them during the day.

anyway...they are the only ones i found so far that work.

Dave,

I located some magnet insoles and the lady let me borrow them to try. They

fit inside your shoes and had little hard bumps all over them. I couldn't

wear them inside my shoes because my feet are so sensitive anyway on the

bottom. I wore them inside socks at night and they didn't do a thing for

me. They were $60. for a pair. I have heard others say they helped them,

but maybe they work for some and not others.

For what it is worth, I tried the mattress, and it was very uncomfortable for

me. I bought the back magnet contraption, and the shoe inserts, pricey and

did not work for me! Perhaps if it is just muscle pain only, it would help

some individuals. Best to you in your try! Bunny

Mike -

I use Nikken magnetic insoles in my shoes and they really help. I can't

wear them all the time because I also wear orthotics and the combo doesn't

fit my work shoes, but at home I can sometimes manage a few hours with both.

I also slip the insoles in a pair of socks and wear them to bed, but not

during the summer - too hot. Nikken is a very very expensive company ($75

for insoles a few years ago) but it's the only one I've tried and was

surprised how well they worked.

All -

Am I the only one who finds heat intolerable?? Give me a cool, wet,

rainy Pacific Northwest day anytime. I live in Portland, Oregon, and we are

having I think our 10th day of uninterrupted sunshine and heat into the 80s

or 90s for today. I am so depressed I can hardly go to work. I woke up

this morning and saw the sun coming through the shades and just wanted to

roll over and die. The heat and sun just drain me. My hands are so stiff

today I really wonder how I am going to be able to get anything done at all.

I can't sleep in a water bed anymore or go in a hot tub for more than a

few minutes. I can't bear to have the dog snuggle up on my feet. I ice my

joints as often as possible. Here you are all talking about how much better

you do in the heat and I'm longing for Alaska (went there 2 years ago and

can't wait to go back!). I have pustular psoriasis with flares that last

about 2 years and then it goes away for 3 or 4 years. Am I that different?

Anyone else who has lots of energy and feels better when it's cool and wet?

Chris

I do better in cool weather...but the damp part makes me ache in every joint. I

can not take hot humid weather at all. I swell up or just feel like I'm gonna

croak. This summer hasn't been too bad in Michigan as far as heat and humidity.

I love rainy days, but the damp makes me ache. I love to sit on my porch and

watch it rain...then ache the rest of the day. It's just something soothing

about listening to the rain.

Try moving the magnets around some. You should have relief within seconds

if you have placed them properly. At least that has been my experience. I

don't know anything about this scar tissue business because I haven't ever

been told anything like that. Besides, I just buy the kind you make

refrigerator magnets with and they work wonders. Then I take them off after

about 12 hours and throw them away. Cheap and effective. Helen

HI all,

Any of you who have had or presently are experiencing relief of pain

from use of magnets I have a question: Did you notice less pain

within a few hours, days of having it on many hours, weeks or what?

I am trying what is supposed to be the best magnets, Nikken, and

actually have felt increased pain wherever and whenever I use them.

I was told that you will feel more pain as the scar tissue is broken

up, etc., and the blood gets circulating again through there. But

how long should increased pain be for and how do you decide that hey

this just isn't working for me? My hunch is that if magnets are

going to help someone they should know it within a days' hours of

wearing it on a specific area-yes or no?

Thanks for any answers,

Joan

PS-Ilene-what you said about " one more thing " is so true-the littlest

changes or additions can seem so monumental when you are doing ALL

you can just to cope.

Magnet Therapy is awesome and has been documented in many double-blind

studies to help all manner of conditions. It may be possible that your son

senses

that they're helping? Magnet mattresses

are awesome!!! Thanks, T

The magnets will be ready within 2 weeks, the bracelets 3-4 weeks. I hope to

ship everything by the last week of February....

Yes, if you can send the money now that would be wonderful.

Thanks.

There are postings on either this list or another cancer list that explain

I noticed the message claiming magnets can " cure tumors " . I work with

magnets a lot - and they are useful in many, many situations. However, I

would certainly NOT consider using them as a " cure " for a tumor.

Recent research in England (British Medical Journal, Vol 329, p. 1450)

proves that the use of magnets for pain relief -- such as for arthritis --

only works if you believe in it. This confirms research conducted by Mark

Winemiller of the Mayo Clinic.

Do you know what kind of magnets they used? I've read Russian

research on magnetic devices called Kuznetsov applicators that asserts

otherwise; the pain relieving effects are attributed to an increased

blood flow (scientifically verified) and better circulation in the

area to which the device is applied. The same effect, never

scientifically explored, was figured out by ingenuine lay female users

to be effective, via a rather ingenuous procedure, as a safe and

" almost natural " alternative to an abortion in an unwanted pregnancy,

which, in a typical situation, " just believing " seldom suffices to

terminate. According to anecdotal evidence (two of the testimonials

coming from my ex co-workers), it worked.

My wife started using mgnetic therapy to stimulate blood flow. She

uses a QRS mat (Quantron Resonance System) which was developed in

Germany, I think. It has already helped her get rid of a 6cm

ovarian cyst and now she's using it to help treat a lymphoma. She

has terrible circulation (possible Sjorgen's Syndrome) and this

really helps.

Belief in any treatment you are receiving is essential in order to receive its

full effectiveness. At least that is what I've read over and over again in

forums that the " experts " contribute to.

Elena,

For the past three centuries scientists and madmen have tried to prove

that magnets would cure or treat something, anything. In general, the more

wild-eyed and authoritative, the more seeming success.

Increased blood flow does not equate with decreased pain. Quite the

opposite. Inflammation brings blood flow to an area. I can bring blood

flow to an area by the proper application of an elm switch. There are

standard methods of testing pain killers by applying heat to

rodents. Mesmeric scientists with their magnetic rods don't seem to want

to do this.

There have been many observations in the past that pregnancy can be

avoided or terminated as a matter of will. I have read that prostitutes in

the orient rarely use birth control and seldom get pregnant until they are

married. I would think that the Russian test subjects who tried the

Kuznetsov magnets were highly motivated and suggestable voluteers. Did

Kuznetsov try his test double-blinded using non-magnetic controls? You

don't have to answer that.

I do think that magnetic fields have a weak biological effect. It

might show up best in cell cultures, but magnetic fields are unlikely to

seriously help or hurt an organism. There are at least two reasons for

this, (1) magnetic fields do not penetrate deeply unless the most powerful

MRI or NMR type magnets are used, and (2) the body has innumerable

protective back-up biological pathways to maintain cellular and systemic

homeostasis.

Thanks for the great info, as always, .

I don't know anything about the science of magnets or why/how

they work, but I'm fairly convinced that, when properly used,

they tend to be quite effective w/cancer, based on the many

reports I've heard.

For more info on magnet therapy for cancer, see the book _Magnet

Leonard,

People are impressed by anyone with an MD behind his/her name. Do you

seriously think that Dr. Phillpot would get the same results if he were a

circus clown or a sideshow freak using the same devices? " Properly used "

means a good story and lots of ceremony from an important person. We have

not evolved since shaman times.

Dear ,

I have used magnets on my dog as well as myself and I can attest to the fact

that they work. They are also used on race horses with great results.
