Guest guest
Charlie- Please give him a high 5 from me too. My son is not recovered, yet- but we did have our basketball moment 2 weeks ago. It's funny. There are these little things- scoring a basket, earning your greenbelt, etc. that are like winning Olympic Gold Medals for us. The best part is the kids are having fun and feeling a sense of accomplishment. Last night I took my 7 year old to his first rock concert-- They Might Be Giants. Last year my son couldn't stand being in a room with loud music- so it was a total crap shoot, driving 2 hrs each way to the land of Kirby (Brooklyn). They were actually having a kids concert, because this alternative band from the 80-90's came out with 2 kids cd's. The concert was a benefit for a local school (one of the singer's son goes there). Not only did we make it thru the whole concert- we had so much fun. sang, danced, clapped (love the song " clap your hands " ). There was this moment where they were playing " Istanbul's not Constantanople " and and I were holding hand, dancing in circle and laughing. I thought to myself- this is a perfect moment. All the money for chelation and Kirkmans, staying in a crappy appt. for a great school district program- it's all worth it. We stood in the second row and the look on 's face when the band played his favorite songs.... You could total make a commercial. Vitamins- $200 a month Chelation- $1000 a month Dancing to Istanbul's not Constantanople- Priceless Note to CDC Lurkers- that's the CHELATION that Charlie is talking about. Guest guest
Way to go Lenny! My non-verbal 6 yr old son was watching too, and took over the mouse. He kept clicking the play botton, and we must have watched your son kick that board in over a dozen times. Keep up the good parenting Charlie... Guest guest
No, Lenny: Some of us Canadians can take that in stride, no problem. I would be proud to say that I missed 100% of my upcoming vaccinations. Our school's Christmas social gathering was actually at Wayne Gretzky's, here in Toronto, at 99 Blue Jays Way, just last week. The funny part was, to me anyway, that the latter part of our evening was at Second City, watching their revue, "Bird Flu Over the Cuckoo's Nest". I was hoping that there would be some serious poking fun at the bird flu and/or other vaccines, but that did not materialize. At this point, I am a bit demoralized...there's no point in making fun of us Canadians when we don't even know how to have fun ourselves.... Guest guest
Here's a positive plug for hockey, Canadians and autism. -Lenny GTHL unveils tournament for autism benefit Dec. 11, 2006. 01:04 PM LOIS KALCHMAN SPECIAL TO THE STAR http://tinyurl.com/yhg7bg Hockey greats have taken literally the website plea of Jakes House for Children with Autism that says, " Children with Autism need Friends, too. " Hall of Famers Bobby Orr, Andy Bathgate, ny Bower and Bobby Hull, as well as former Toronto Maple Leafs star Ron Ellis and NHL senior vice-president Jim have become more than just friends. On Sunday, the Greater Toronto Hockey League gave an early Christmas present by announcing the Jim Tournament, featuring 80 house league teams next March 12-17 at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, with the finals at Toronto's Ricoh Centre on the 18th. " We are hoping to raise $200,000 for them, " said GTHL executive director Oakman. Orr is the honorary chair of the event, with Bathgate, Bower, Ellis and Hull serving as captains of the four divisions. " I am just helping to make people aware of how devastating autism is, " told The Star from the NHL offices in Toronto. " They had their Christmas Party (Sunday) and you can't help but get involved once you see those children and what (they and) the parents are going through. Guest guest
Just for clarification purposes: I found Mr. Gretzky's quote " You miss 100% of the shots you never take " , in a book I recently bought called " Fearless Change: Patterns for Introducing New Ideas " by Lynn Manns. It happened to be one of those quotes authors put in the front of a chapter. I couldn't get it out of my mind for how you can't hold back on your goals, and of course the hidden meaning Holly exposed so well. Ironically, a chapter in the book highlighted how these patterns were used by someone who established and continuously built one of the largest Multiple Scleorsis Associations over the last 50 years. Anyways - I'm sorry if it insinuated any canadian bashing, and led us off topic. I still think it was awesome how Charlies's son Lenny earned his green belt. That was an awesome video. So I guess his next belt is a blue stripe belt - if I remember correctly from my three NT kids.
