Senator Rick Santorum just spoke with Don Imus about the Combating

Autism Act. Senator Santorum announced that the bill will be moving

along with " slight revisions " to the language. He said they have been

working closely with autism groups and will be briefing members of

these groups soon regarding the changes.

He also said,

"We include environmental factors, which certainly thimerosal would be one of those, mercury would be one of them."

We need to hold him to that statement.

Autism Speaks appears to be punting on this very important issue.

Maybe too much heat for them to deal with.

Why would Santorum be more aggressive and forthcoming than Autism Speaks?

I'm in the Kerbob/Hooker camp on this issue now-

Somewhere in Missouri.

Why would any Senator or Representative not want to know what Thimerosal does to infants and toddlers? More importantly why would Autism Speaks not want to know what ethylmercury injections do to infants and toddlers?

Santorum's voting record on mercury issues is what?

To suggest a possible answer to your question this reaction is based on the excluding mercury research dry run that Autism Speaks ran passed us all the other day. In other words someone at Autism Speaks told Santorum to keep the language in for now and leave us parents with the impression that all is well. Autism Speaks can slap us down in their own special way. "Poorly designed" mercury studies applications are rejected,2004 IOM, CDC bean counts, we can't afford to do this mercury study, etc.

The flip-side reality is Santorum and his buddies at Autism Speaks would NEVER get the combating autistics bill through if they stripped away the indications of mercury research wording and they know it.

I strongly urge all members of Congress to not take action on this bill until after this next election cycle. A lot of our children NEED extensive mercury research done. The Santorum bill is extremely weak, vague, whatever word you want to describe almost non-existent. There are many autism researchers who suggest that as many at seventy-five percent of children with autism today are autistic as a result of Thimerosal poisoning. Three quarters of all ASD children. We parents should not be forced to sue a charity to fork over research money for mercury in vaccines causing autism studies.

Personally I'll stick to my position that the Santorum bill is a drug company give-away and a campaign slush fund.

We all know this. But to reiterate:

Because they already know and they do not want it generally known that they know.

If they didn't know/strongly suspect, Frist/Hastert would not have rammed the Fristmas legislation through.

Once congress commits to funding, research and findings, they can no longer dissemble and delay. The shit hits the fan at the point when results come in.

By preventing/delaying sanctioned research as they present this play along to the public, they can continue to look under the chair, up the tree and at the "autism genes" to mislead the public about the mercury poisoning.

Results from sanctioned research would blow the cover off of this whole scandal.

There is no "autism gene". There simply are a group/collection of genes which predispose certain infants to be become susceptible to the vaccine protocol with mercury.
