A Poisoned Child's Cry

Would that I could glimpse the beauty you see,

But Mercury's damage imprisons me.

Would that all drugs were mercury free-

That there would be no more children like me.

Maimed by the mercury given to me,

Another Minimata's child am I-

Poisoned by drug industry perfidy,

Aided by governments' complicity.

Severed from humanity's mainstream,

My voice reduced to a distorted scream.

Yet, within, my soul still strives to break free-

To express the pain that imprisons me.

This poem was written Aug. of 2004 after the CoMeD Citizens Petition

was submitted to the FDA. Dr. King also read this poem to the IOM

panel during the public comment, at the VSD meeting in Aug of 2004,

it was a stunning moment…

While dedicating and devoting literally thousands of hours of his

valuable time to removing mercury from medicines, Dr. King became

familiar with our poisoned children and their particular

disabilities. He patiently spent hours on the phone educating me,

while my (non-verbal) daughter would moan, squeal, shriek, and

scream in the back ground while we tried to carry on civil,

scientific conversations.

Dr. King is a man who has gifted our community with his vast

knowledge; he truly cares about our children and fully understands

they suffer from mercury poisoning. He has recently dedicated his

life to educating others of mercury toxicity, and has been

instrumental in the latest attempts in the removal of mercury in all

medicines.

This poem is just one of his many " gifts " to us, which reflects his

understanding and compassion for our children.

I am grateful to have such a dedicated warrior for our children!
