Guest guest
I agree. However, if you think the Democrats are the answer, that's fine. Most people don't (polling data). That's why there's so much movement out there for a third party. Most people (I include myself in that group) think that the two party system has lived beyond its useful life and there is a need for additional parties to stoke some life back into issues which are pressing, but which can't be dealt with because of the corruption we see in both parties. The vaccine/thimerosal/autism issue is a case in point. I view the Republicans as corrupt, but in many instances I can still walk away from their idiocy. I view the Democrats as corrupt, but they often give me no option to walk away. They tend to mandate their idiocy. That's a critical factor for me. I need freedom to operate. I view a third party as a better option. At least it would take a third party some time to develop the know-how to game the system. When one party controls a $2.7 trillion budget, you are going to get maddening corruption on both sides- depending on who is in office. And the corruption will simply manifiest itself through a prism of ideology. The longer one party is in control, the more time they have to develop the know-how to game the system and line their pockets. In an ideologically guided manner. Both parties do it. It's just a question of whose ox is gored and whose pockets are lined. Free markets? yeah, right. Let's concentrate various industries in the hands of a few and see what we get. We get a corrupt MSM, an oil industry that rips you off, a drug cartel. Where's the action. On the internet. With the bloggers. The entrepreneurial newness. Before it gets corrupted. We need a redux of Teddy Roosevelt. I view the Democrats as a potentially better option, provided that they absolutely rid themselves of the mandate Stalinists who make all of our lives far, far worse. Because when the government mandates and screwsup (that never happens right?), you can't fight them or get them to change because they set up a bureaucratic infrastructure that does not respond to criticism, a learning curve or freedom of choice. Think of the cantankerous clerk at the Department of Motor Vehicles who won't accept your form because of penmanship. Or the CDC's response to the vaccine crisis. That's not acceptable either. There must be some way of keeping both of these groups off balance- that way we can constantly regenerate an entrepreneurial construct reflective of an uncorrupted newness which is attached to each party's ideological tenets. And then keep them off balance to minimize the likelihood of corruption through the gaming of the system. I believe the principal experience for any person in public office is that they live for a year with one of our autistic children, especially one who runs really fast, and has bouts of insomnia, like mine. That'll smack some sense into these idiots. Re: autism every day. I agree.... wrights are still wrong ! Guest guest
I'm not so sure that Mr. Bush has surrounded himself with corporate types. I think corporate types placed him in office...and pull his strings. Guest guest
I took American history a couple of semesters ago. We studied the political doings at length. I used to think another party or two would spring up, but after seeing history show the third party never lasted, I don't know if it will happen or not. I'm for 5-6 parties. IT would take some of the power from the lobbyists, they'd have to fund so many campaigns inflation would go up or they'd focus on 1-2 parties. I think the Green Party is a great start. I'm conservative and follow little of their platform, but I respect Nader because he's a man who does what he believes is right. I might completely disagree with that, but it's far better to know he'll do what he says than have someone who's a yes man to the current polls. I also like a lot of the libertarian platforms, but they have never been successful getting going, either. I think Neal Boortz is doing a lot to get their ideology out there. If they had leadership that has the same quality, a person who stands by what he/she believes in, then they both could give the dem/repubs a run for the money. And, I think the media won't give alternative parties the same respect for coverage. Look at Nader running last time, they never gave him the coverage. The media doesn't want a multi party system, either. Alternative/Internet media will be the only way to overcome mainstream. Debi

Guest guest
Today, the funding of a new party would be easy on the internet. Just ask Dean. Guest guest
De Beers is a South African company with large global interests. There are many American based companies who would seemingly have easier access to pulling bush's strings than De Beers Take care nKerbob <robertbloch@...> wrote: A few years back when a big head from De Beers landed in NYC for a visit, Air Force One wasn't far behind. Guest guest
I pretty much have same philosophy, I'll support anyone who makes sense on a particular issue. I still believe that we need honest representation in congress et al. This will occur if the independent tag is guarranteed and this will only occur if the big oney interests are outlawed. affiliation with a party is ok but if independence of thought and vote is ensured then it really doesn;t matter what name a party goes by. A political philosophy shoud originate from clear objective thought, not a base of a specific ideology. All ideologies are to a degree subjectively biased, so they shouldn't have a place in serious decision making. i don't necessarily believe you are conservative, you're really independently minded and think issues through on their merit. A conservative issue really is trying to do the correct thing pertaining to an issue. It doesn't really have to do with republican or democrat. consider gay marriage, issue, it's clouded with religious fervour when at its basest level it should just be viewed as two people in love and desirous of committing to eachother. It's only the obfuscation and pushing religius agendas which muddy the issue, presumptions are made and acted upon regarding potential problems the what if what then brigade, ....it's all junk..common sense is what should run politics not pursuing an agendawhether conservative or liberal. All it breaks down to is tolerance and objective clarification and understanding. Take care n Debi <fightingautism@...> wrote: I took American history a couple of semesters ago. Guest guest
Just pointing out decorum and protocol. To many citizens in general terms the President is looked up to. To others he's their waterboy. Contrast that with the three separate requests that Rep. Dan Burton made years ago to Bush for a White House conference on the epidemic rise in Autism. Republicans don't want to regulate the drug industry. They use the old adage that if is moves tax it. If it continues to move regulate it. Once you regulate it to cut profits you will end up subsidizing it. It sounds reasonable.... Here's what's wrong. Republicans are subsidizing the drug industry every chance they can, but consumers are not seeing a price break as a result of price regulation.
