A genetic component to mercury causing autism?

Hello,

I need some backup in the mercury causes autism debate

(which I believe wholeheartedly, but I am trying to convince

my SIL)!!!

I need to know if it has been definitely proven that there is

a genetic component to all of this and do you have a source

that I can refer to?

Also, will any metal or environmental toxin, in sufficient

quantities, cause autism when introduced into a child's

body? What I need to know: is it ONLY mercury or can it be

other things?

This is SO important to me. One of us is going to end up

looking like a fool and I don't want it to be ME!
