Guest guest
Why try something that makes someone likely more " floppy/weak? " I've always stayed away from any meds that may cause drowsiness or weakness because it dampened my spirit or my " get up and go. " Almost all kids at that age start to feel muscle aches (sma or not) cuz they are growing. SMA kids are just more aware of their bodies and may voice their discomfort more. If a GP can iron out any serious causes, non-sma related then do your best to either get therapy or tell your kid its apart of growing up. I think boys, in general, pipe up more than girls (wink). Guest guest
I've never tried baclofen. I only know quads who use it for spasm control. For pain I occasionally use very low dose chewable aspirin for joint pain, or 1/8 - 1/4 of the prescribed dose of vicodin or percocet for muscle or lower back pain. They don't make me weaker or bother my breathing. I think it's a very individual thing. Guest guest
yes i understand the aches and pains and yes i tell him to just deal with it. but since a total spinal fusion one year ago its worse. pain so bad to where he doesnt want to get up and go to school or even go outside to play. and being a year out of surgery its time to start taking away some of that pain. i was just asking because i have heard of sma patients using baclofen to help with pains and some contractures. but thanks a bunch Angie <angie@...> wrote: Why try something that makes someone likely more " floppy/weak? Guest guest
You're welcome, and good luck with it. ly, I dread the days when my back has been spasming since I got up and my hips have tensed up as a result, I can't even eat dinner because of the pain, and I know the transfer out of my chair in a couple of hours is going to be excruciating. I can power through all day, but with the pain, I'm just that much more tired and grumpy and questioning why I bothered to get up. On those days, about once or twice a week while I'm pushing my body in night school, I take 1/2 a percocet (I weigh 52 lbs). Not enough to get me high, but it certainly eases the pain so I can eat and relax and not dread getting out of my chair. I hope Zack can find some relief soon. Guest guest
I was going over old posting on this group. I had lost most of them from my inbox when my computers crashed last month. Anyway, is Baclofen a pain killer? I take Norco, which is hydrocodone, (325/10mg). Could the pain killer be causing me more weakness in my arms? Or is the pain in my arms causing me weakness? I'm just trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with my arms. Any opinions on this??? Anyone? Guest guest
Hydrocodone is also known as vicodin. Makes me very anxious and doesn't do much for my pain. > > I was going over old posting on this group. Guest guest
I'm not sure about the different pain killers, but I've been having really bad pain in my right arm (my typing arm). And I know the pain makes me tired. Ugh. Jenn
