Guest guest
Hello Ladies, Guess I just need a pep talk. I fell ill with a really bad sore throat, congested, etc etc on Sunday, after my workout. I wasnt feeling the best Sat night and I still managed to get in my workout Sunday. Monday is my rest day. I also called into work and just slept the day away. But I did manage to squeak down all the food. Tuesday I went into work in the afternoon for a couple hours. But, I was able to sleep in and push myself through my HIIT workout and abs workout. Today is my first full day back to work and I just couldnt get out of bed at 5am to do my Lower body workout. Now Im really beating myself up that I missed. I brought workout clothes to see how I feel when I leave work, but by then it will be 7pm and I may be exhausted. Im already feeling tired and worn out. Pep talk anyone? This is the first time Ive missed a workout and Im 1/2 way down with my 2nd challenge! I feel awful about missing!
Guest guest
check out the hussman website on what you should and shouldn't do when you're sick. Don't make yourself feel so guilty, you wouldn't do that to anyone else if they were sick, give yourself some slack!!! --------------------------------- Use Photomail to share photos without annoying attachments. Guest guest
Uh, when you get sick, the best thing you can do for both your results and your recovery is REST. If you never rest, you never get better. You can make what would have been a three day cold last weeks. By working out when you're sick, your body has to decide whether it's going to repair your muscles or fight the infection, and it ends up doing both of them very half-assed. So, you don't make any fitness gains AND you don't get better. Once you're ready to hit the gym again, you'll know it and you'll be able to ease back into it. It might be tomorrow, it might be in another day or two. Listen to your body. You can't go wrong doing that. Guest guest
I was just reading about this today. Here is the link. http://www.hussmanfitness.org/html/TMMotivation.html Read the part under Plan Your Response to Obstacles in Advance. It's Hussman's take on the whole working out while sick issue. > > Hello Ladies, > Guess I just need a pep talk. Guest guest
Thanks for posting the link I can never find anything since he rearranged the site. Hussman totally cracks me up. He says: If you've ever visited an intensive care unit at the hospital, you've probably noticed that a lot of the patients look kind of thin and gaunt. What can we learn from this? Clearly, getting yourself critically ill is an EXCELLENT way to lose fat! This is particularly true if you can also give yourself a screaming high fever, which is of course, thermogenic. Once I've been admitted to the ICU, I like to keep a couple of 90 pound dumbbells on either side of the hospital bed, so I can blast out a few extra reps after being defibrillated. This is the kind of determination that will keep you fit and active until you die. HA! On 3/22/06, Elise <ewhite723@...> wrote: > I was just reading about this today. Guest guest
OK Thanks Ladies. I do tend to beat myself up about things that are just out of my control. Ill let myself recover and then get back into my workouts. Right now Im so congested I cant breathe, so a workout is silly. Im just addicted to the workouts now! What can we learn from this? Clearly, getting yourself > critically ill is an EXCELLENT way to lose fat! This is morbidly funny - my mom is sick right now and as result has lost a LOT of weight. We used to joke about the thighs that run in our family (small women, big thighs) and now she doesn;t have them any more! I told her it was the one good thing about breast cancer. Unfortunately, she can't enjoy it...
Guest guest
This thread has been good for me! I just had sinus surgery yesterday and I can't work out for a week! I am not liking it at all. Guest guest
I had to take a week off when I had Lasik earlier this year. I can't tell you how good it is for you though. You will be fine. Your muscle will not disappear Diane although I do kind of like the idea of keeping db's by the bed....just in case At 02:47 PM 3/22/2006, you wrote: >This thread has been good for me!
