Thanks for the advice Sandy inhousepharmacy are sending the flagyl however the GP refused to give us a prescription not sure how I feel about giving the tablets without a prescription. Still will still try and get a prescription elsewhere. The tablets are 200 mg tablets what dose did you use.

thanks

We used metronidazole (Flagyl) from www.inhousepharmacy.com - even though our GP gave us a prescription - we couldn't find a chemist that had any without lactose or artificial colours. We found being SCD helped a lot.We have tested our son, Eddie, 3 times during the treatment so have seen the bugs disappearing. His ATEC changed from high 80s to 28 (the score certainly went up recently because mB12 got him talking - but otherwise the improvements were through treating his bugs and healing his intestine so he could get the nourishment from his food and supplements.Best wishesSandyMum to Eddie (2.5yrs early onset autism) >> Hi,> got Dans test results back I was hoping they would show something > but not to much. Dave,

When do you next see Jean? It is important to get the right probiotics in straight after killing off the clostridia, otherwise some other pathogenic bacteria will take its place. She will advise you on dosage and what to give and when following the course of Flagyl.

Hi

Just a feeling but I reckon HBOT would also be pretty useful for Clostridial overgrowth.

Worth trying and maybe the gains people see with HBOT might in some way be related to this. Anyone know any evidence to back up this theory?? Would love to know....

Is ther anything 'natural' that will kill Clostridia? Amy Yasko

recommends 3 naturals to get more oxygen into sytem (clostridia

being anarobic bug) but you cannot buy here. Wondered what others

were using.

Is residual prob for T. Interesting piece on Yasko site:

The situation regarding the bacterium Clostridium deserves special

mention. There is some indication that Clostridia infection may have

an impact on language. A severe expressive language delay was noted

for an autistic child with a duplication of 28 genes on chromosome 7

(NEJM. 353:1694, 2005). This is the identical region that is deleted

in children with Beuren Syndrome, a condition that is

characterized by accelerated language development. The implication

is that one of these 28 genes plays a role in language. As I

discussed at the conference in February, 2006 in Arizona, a close

inspection of these 28 genes yields several candidates that may be

involved in the apraxia noted in the autistic child with the gene

duplication. Two of the 28 genes are involved in the binding of

Clostridia toxins. In addition, I have come across a recent case

where very high Clostridia levels were associated with decreased

language for an individual. This does suggest that high levels of

this anaerobic bacterium may play a role in limited language. There

are several types of tests available to ascertain if Clostridia

infection in the gut is an issue. Particular OAT/MAT tests indicate

the levels of HPHPA, which is described to be elevated with

Clostridia infection. Levels of DHPPA on other OAT/MAT tests have

formerly been discussed as relating to Clostridia levels. Since

there continues to be some disagreement over the implication of the

levels of these biochemical intermediates and their relationship to

Clostridia levels, it is wise to run a specific stool test to

confirm the presence of Clostridia toxins if you see elevated levels

of HPHPA or DHPPA listed on an OAT/MAT test. Clostridium is an

anaerobe, which means that it does not grow well (if at all) in a

high oxygen environment. Approaches for addressing Clostridia in the

gut include the use of Oxydrene (1/2 once or twice daily), O2 Plus,

Cell food (2 to 3 drops daily),Penta water; the herb bay leaf has

been reported to be very effective against Clostridia, and Florastor

to replace the presence of Clostridia with normal flora. An apraxia

support formula is also under development at this time. Addressing

Clostridia infection may also help with loose stools. The toxins

excreted by Clostridia cause gaps between the cells lining the gut,

adding to leaky gut issues.

Guess what T's biggest ASD issue is his language!!!! Needs to

tackle those bugs.

Thanks

Hi our dr said that HBOT detoxifies as well as giving extra oxygen. We

had our 1st proper poo after HBOT - unfortunately it only happened

once or twice so we have a long way to go.
