I guess one question would be is the family actively trying to potty train at

this time or not? I'm assuming due to his age he's in pull ups which are not

helpful in potty training especially at this age.My son was about that age when

he became potty trained during the day(which he still is,I use pull ups at

night)The only way they're going to learn is the same way you would with a

typical child..wear regular underwear.Does this child have adversive response to

sitting on the toilet or the bathroom?

Yeah,it's gona take a lot of patience and cleaning floors and couches but it is

the only way to learn.I did my son as you would a typical child..going every

30min or so..praising him when he did go..etc.If you're able to answer some of

these questions we could better suggest what to do.

Subject: Toilet training for a 6year old boy

I am working with a six year old boy who is still not toilet trained.

The family lives in Northern Westchester NY. Is there anyone who could

help this family. Please email me. Thanks

Kat, you might try going ahead and putting him in the big boy underwear. He might not like the feel of the wet pants and he might not want to get them wet in the first place. It worked with Karac. Pat K

Pat, the only thing that's made me (very) hesitant to do that is that

he's always had a tendancy to have extremely loose and foul smelling

bowel movements. :(

Kat, I understand.  I threw away a few pair of pants like that in the process.

Sara,

Actually, Timmy would eat all kinds of gfcf bars, but little else. :)

Lara Bars, Allergen Bars, Bumble Bars....

He would also east gfcf cereals and drink gfcf milk. That's all

though.

I used to find comfort and solace in the fact that he would eat PBJ's

and, thus, would get SOME protein in him, but he wouldn't eat gfcf

bread so I couldn't even get PBJ's in him any more.

I spent mega bucks on different gfcf store-bought or online ordered

breads and no go. Then... I bought a Kitchen Aid (MORE bucks) to try

to make him bread (I have horrible arthritis and can't knead). He

wouldn't eat any of those either.

He's always loved chicken nuggets, but he wouldn't TOUCH any gfcf

nugget I ever made and I tried dozens of recipes.

It got to where he was loosing too much weight and I needed to take

him off of the diet.

I will say that if there are ANY PARENTS WHO HAVE EXTREMELY (SENSORY)

PICKY EATERS AND WANT TO LEARN ABOUT SMOOTHIES AND HOW YOU CAN GET

STUFF IN THEM THAT MATTERS..... LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!!! I HAVE SECRETS

THAT WILL AMAZE YOU!!!

Hugs and love!
