She is a 7 lb miniature daushund. I bought her from a breeder on the west coast, but the more I interact with the dog I believe the breeder runs a puppy mill. Cali acts just like a rescued dog from an abusive situation. She trusts me, however, and is very sweet to me. I've promised her that she has a safe 'forever' home and a friend in my other dachshund, Lucy. My neighbor and I were preparing to load my dogs into their crates so we could go into town. As I walked Cali around the yard whild Donna loaded Lucy, I fell. I knew I was going to land on the little 7lb Cali so I put my arms out and bent my knees so I wouldn't squash her. It scared her a lot and I lost my grip on the leash. The speed limit on the road in front of my house is 55mph. We started to try to catch the dog. Luckily, one man drove his car behind us so no one would pop over the hill and hit us or the dog. An oncoming car saw what was happening and blocked the other lane too. Donna had to drive me in between the two blocking cars and she would put me out in from of Cali. My only chance of catching her was to step on the 5' leash she had attached to her collar. I got her on the second try thankfully. So, I had a major fall and had to run to catch my dog. The pharmacy where I get my meds had screwed up Saturday when Donna was there to pick up my meds so for a couple of days I was missing my blood pressure meds. At about 9pm Sunday night, my nose started bleeding profusely. By the time Donna got me to the emergency room, I had a little over a pint of blood in the plastic bucket I had grabbed to catch the blood. I have blook all over my house, front steps and porch. I have a bleeding disorder called vonWillebrand's disease. Hemophiliacs clotting factor 8 doesn't work. Mine works but it is not always there in normal amounts. When your levels get low you are subject to bleeding. The local hospital did not have the drug I needed in intravenous form. They only had a nose spray that is used for something different. They used the nose spray at the suggestion of the hematologist. All it did was wash out the clots that had formed when the ER did a lot of ice and pressure. I had to be transferred to another hospital about an hour away to get the IV drug I needed. Donna and I finally got home about 2am. Since then, all I can do is sleep. Cali wakes me up when she needs to go outside. I'm having a little bit of oozing so I must be careful or my nose will rebleed. Since I got my meds back on board, I feel pretty good. I hope to get my blood built back up soon. Now what caused the bleeding? was it from your fall that triggered it??? Your ailment sounds awful scary ( Its good that they had the med you needed close by, did they air lift you??? The MD at the first hospital said that all of the tissue he could see in my nose was oozing = he saw little tiny dots of blood everywhere. They got me stablized at the first hospital. My wonderful neighbor, Donna, drove me to both hospitals. I have blown out some huge clots in the past two days. The biggest chance for a re-bleed is 10 days to 2 weeks from the first blood. I have work I can do here in bedand it's a good bonding time for me and the new dog -making sure that the old dog does NOT feel abandoned.I had turned my computer off for a week so I have tonsof reading to do.You are always so kind and concerned. " I am taking it very easy. I have work I can do here in bed and it's a good bonding time for me and the new dog - making sure that the old dog does NOT feel abandoned.
