Listmates,

For those of you who participated in the recent discussion about the patient with a suspected Morton's neuroma I recently had an opportunity to examine the individual. What I found was a shortened first toe (Morton's toe) that was causing a metatarsal inflammation in the adjacent toes mimicking neuroma type symptoms, there was also evidence of a shortened ilopsoas . The combination of those two stresses are what appeared to be the main causes of the patients' primary complaint. A pad was then inserted under the first toe and the iliopsoas contraction was released, patient stated that she could feel an immediate change in the severity of her foot pain.
