Exactly, and the public is more than tired of the perpetual changes, recommendations and diet fads many times offered up by physicians. I feel thats precisely why as a physician, we must be careful and lean heavily on eating a balanced diet of predominantly whole, real foods.

RE: Want a better workout? Don't stretch before

I started doing pre-warm up stretching way back in 1986 while playing basketball in college, everybody (including the team trainer) thought I was nuts. But it only made sense to warm up for a few minutes, then stretch, then warm up full bore, all prior to activity.

This brings up an interesting philosophical conundrum. I was in the gym last week and I heard a young (early 20’s) trainer educating a mature (late 60s) gym member. The member pointed out that when he was in high school the football team was given salt tablets and advised not to drink water. I remember being told not to drink water in the early 80’s to avoid cramps. Probably not the advice most trainers would give today!

And in my life I have seen eggs go from being part of a “healthy breakfast” to the “food of Satan”, to “well eggs are sorta OK”, and now we are back to “eat eggs”!

So my philosophical conundrum?

What are we telling our patients today that in 5, 10, or 20 years will be ridiculed?

I can’t wait to hear our ‘yet to be born’ colleagues saying; “3 out of 4 chiropractors used to recommend Vit. D? Well 3 out of 4 medical doctors smoked Camels! LOLOLOLOL”

I know “do your best with the best available data at the time”, but….

Anyway, food for thought.
