Good Morning All,

I need some help with where to start with this case. I

thought this was a candida from the phone call but obviously there is more

stuff going on

The mom reports her son has had chronic candidiasis since birth

she first noticed it at 3 months when the child’s belly had light patches

that would not get darker in the sun.  His pores would get clogged and pus

would result all over the body.

No antibiotic use reported in the last year.  No labs test

have been run but the mom reports an acupuncturist has checked all his organs

for imbalances ( I don’t know how and she was unable to explain)

Major symptoms-

Cravings for sugar, irritability when not given food,

lethargy throughout the day, argues when he doesn’t get the food he wants

and will start crying from anger – he wears down his mother

Breakfast – bagel with cream cheese

Lunch – sandwich on hamburger bun with salami lettuce,

garlic mayo

Snack – granola, chips,  salami packet with jelly and

cheese

Dinner – boca burger, oven fries, thin mint cookies

Cravings are for salt and sugar – chips, bread, white

pasta and sometimes beef

He reports BM once per day not GI symptoms.  When he is

angry he reports more BM

Mental/Emotional

Mom report in his past life he was exceedingly impoverished

and want to overcome that in this lifetime.

Mom reports that he get anxiety when he is hypoglycemic

Noises give him headache in the last couple of weeks

He says he gets “depressed when he spends to much time

with his older brother ( he shares a room with him). Older brother takes up all

the attention and space whenever he is in the room – very controlling

He has to push himself to do housework, math homework, or

exercise.

Clinical observations:  he has skin peeling in between his

toes and on the bottoms of both feet the left is worse.  Left shoulder is has

small raised red bumps in circular colony formation spread over approximately 5

inches long ½ inch high.

4 ½ feet weight 97 pounds

Past Treatments

Mom report phosphorus constitution and has treated with 10M

in the past, acupuncture, drainage (not unda) no sugar diets.

I was thinking of starting with BTG, diet changes and

addressing the mental/emotional issues since we should not treat skin issues

the first month with undas.  Any suggestions?

Daemon, it sounds like you could work in

the GI for a while – I tend to look at candida overgrowth as a symptom of

the bigger picture. There’s lots of diet work to do that’s for sure

– I’m a big fan of gluten-free especially in the early stages of a

tough case. Was the child a C-section or vaginal birth? What was mom’s

state of health during the pregnancy? These might give you more insight into

his GI and adrenal health. Restore the terrain of the GI and you’ll probably

need to do less work with the candida directly.

Hope that’s helpful

Daemon, I agree with Teri as well. Work with GI and liver #s. #34 is good for this case. B vitamins, Vit C, Ribes for the adrenals. I have a feeling he was born stressed or very stressed mom during PG. It seems that he was born with adrenal fatigue and insulin/blood sugar issues in general. Pancreatinum 4CH may be good here too. I also use the herb Monarda fistulosa in drop dosages (1-5 gtts BID) for chronic candida cases. See Wood's "Book of Herbal Wisdom" for more on Monarda's indications. It really seems to clear an underlying imbalance in a homeopathic-like way. Kim Saxe, ND Milwaukee, WITeri Jaklin <teri.jaklin@...> wrote: Daemon, it sounds like

Teri and Kim thank you for the feedback.

I also had the feeling that the adrenals and GI were part of the underlying

cause.  I really appreciate the perspectives and I will follow up with the mom.

There's a product I use a lot especially with children that helps them keep their blood sugar from crashing between meals while you're doing the deeper work to get the blood sugar balanced and the dysbiosis under control. It's called Amino Acid Quick Sorb from Biotics in Arizona ( 800-232-3183)

It's basically a liquid amino acid formula that quickly keeps the blood sugar from dropping. I have the parents give the kids a squirt of it between meals or even after they've eaten a sugary or starchy meal. When kids are so out of balance that their cravings are so out of control, I try to get in there and balance their system in any way I can to keep the spiking and crashing from occurring.

This product is not going to correct the problem deeply BUT it can help to settle down the pattern and help the child wean off the sugars and onto a healthier diet. Feel free to use it anytime of day where you suspect a blood sugar drop . Often I find that these kids have very little appetite in the morning. A squirt of this will help sustain them until you can get some real food into them.

If they don't like the taste, put it in a little diluted fruit juice and sneak it in that way. The overall benefit of the amino acids out weighs any problem from the sugar in the juice. Hope this is useful. It's a great product for adults as well and one of my stand by products for years.

Sincerely, Sobyl Bunis
