Guest guest
This is excellent Tonya! Thank you for sharing So, for $50 they will give you the study material, and then you study and have to take an exam, right? How do you take the exam? Is it online? I will go back and read-up on it myself, but thought I'd ask you quickly if you were still around. Guest guest
The certification is $50, the books and materials are $19.99, so it ends up being $69.99 total plus shipping. The study materials are a book and study guide. Their materials are usually pretty good. I hate that this one doesn't come with a dvd like some of the ones I've gotten in the past because the dvds are usually set up like an actual certification workshop which is great for me because of the way I learn. After you've done all the studying you want, you then go to their site and take the test. They give you 3 hours to take it and when you've completed all the questions, you will immediately know your score and have the questions you missed given to you so you know where you are lacking and can restudy those areas for better comprehension. They then mail you the certificate. Tonya New FiTOUR® Certification ONLY $50! Sale Ends Friday Night! INTRODUCTORY SALE ENDS FRIDAY NIGHT AT MIDNIGHT!! Guest guest
Darcy, Actually, I don't have their personal training one because I already had several other personal training certs. (I have this crazy habit of spending all my extra money on more certifications, so I have taken them from like 7 or 8 different agencies.) I have FiTour's Master Certs in Yoga and Pilates, which include Primay and Advanced for each, plus Group Exercise and nutrition. I also have their Yoga Ball and Primary Aqua certifications. If you haven't already paid for the ACE test, then it might be a good thing to get their certification first. It will be a good ice breaker, give you some good info, and be something to build on instead of jumping head first into the deep end with ACE. Most of these smaller certifications aren't as indepth as ACE. You will learn the basics with this and then later, after you've built confidence in your personal training abilities, you can delve into the more detailed certification stuff from ACE. Like I said before, I've been a certified trainer for 10 years, but am just now taking the ACE test becuase of how detailed it is. As a new personal trainer, you're doing good to learn the exercises for the rotator cuff. My opinion is that you don't have to know the 4 muscles that make up the rotator cuff and their insertions and origins in order to be a good trainer who can help strengthen it. So if you haven't already paid for ACE certification, I'd get the cheaper, more beginner oriented certification and advance on to the harder certifications as you advance as a trainer. Guest guest
Thank you for all of this info Tonya. I ws thinking the exact same thing as you. I will go ahead and attempt this certification first, and then somewhere down the line attempt Ace. I bought the study materials for ACE, but that's it so far. Oh, how exciting.... If I would complete and pass this personal training one, I would be much more confident as a trainer, and I could begin to advertise! I am going to go for the primary personal trainer one, and maybe the strength training one as well. I want them both, but i don't know that I can study and do both at the same time. I'm wondering if I can purchase it now, and then take the exam at a later date.. From what I understand you have a set amount of time to take the test after purchasing th kit?? Anyway, I sent an e-mail to them asking so we'll see. Guest guest
Darcy, Yeah, you can take the test any time in the next year after purchasing. When I did all of the Master Trainer stuff, I just bought them all at once and went through them one at a time. I think it took me like 3 months to complete them all, but that's because of my schedule being crazy. Typically when I do one, I study it for a week or so then take the test. But I've also been doing this for a lllloooonnnngggg time, so most of the certs are review for me more then new knowledge. ACE on the other hand is kicking my @$$! Guest guest
A WEEK!! Oh my gosh.. I'm sure it would take me much longer..It says in the FAQ that it must be completed within 90 days or you pay some late fee. Hmmm... I think i will just go ahead and get them both anyway, I'm too anxious to wait.
