Guest guest
I had to chime in on the potty training. I know we aren't supposed to get too far off the list topic, but had to tell you all how proud I am of . We have only had her since Nov 27 at which time she didn't have a clue how to use the potty. Now, she goes to the potty by herself, doesn't have to be reminded and wears underwear all day. The only time she wears a pull up is to bed which she does wet in... HOWEVER, if I get her up before she actually wakes up, she goes to the potty and her pull is dry. I am so proud of how she has been doing. She even goes on her own to poopy... The other day I asked her if she was ready for lunch (which she always is) and she took off running and I thought, where is she going? I followed her and she was in on the potty. The only question I have is how do you we do this when we go out like say to a restaurant and then to Walmart or something, I can't tug the potty chair along and she has never sat on a big toilet hmmmm. I would like to start her in a head start program but we are waiting for the adoption to go through. Not sure how it works here. It doesn't surprise me that they have to be potty trained. Ok, back to working out! hehe ~~
Guest guest
Donna, I would guess the potty training thing has to do with teachers per student. They probably have to have more teachers if some students are not fully potty trained. I’d find a new school though because if they have to completely dress themselves as well if an accident does happen children tend to be upset and they will have problems dressing themselves (well some will). And that would mean they could never wear clothes that have zippers or hard buttons – it seems a bit harsh for a 3 year old. And I would guess that many a 3 year old would come out of the bathroom without washing their hands –YUCK Even the 4 and 5 year olds at my children’s school get help with putting on their jackets, tying their shoes and doing up zippers and buttons. Or in the case of an accident. For that matter doing up a jacket all on their own can be really rough for this age. It’s a hard skill to learn (Sylvia is learning it now but she has problems getting the zipper attached at the bottom and she has incredible small motor skills) And many of the 4 year olds have problems doing it as well. From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Donna M-P Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2006 8:17 PM Subject: OT - POtty training and preschool § Hi ! I was thinking that myself -- but the school I visited yesterday said no pull-ups!! Not to provide TMI for but my DD is a night time pooper anyway, so she'd just have pee in her diaper during class - and on days I'm running around with her I don't change her diaper every time she pees - otherwise I'd be in restrooms all over town when we have activities and errand days. I'm sure it is for liability/legal reasons that they don't want the teachers going into the bathroom to help the kids - but I don't think many three year olds can be completely independent w/ wiping, hand-washing, etc. Plus, they want the kids to be able to completely undress and re-dress themselves if they spill something or have an accident (they want a change of clothes in their back-pack for this purpose). I'm visiting another school tomorrow - so I'll see what they have to say. Honestly, if she were wearing a pull-up and was just gone for 2.5 hours, I'd be content to let her sit in pee until we got home or I was able to change her. This list is getting too real now! LOL! Guest guest
We have a small hard-plastic folding potty seat that travels with us. My DD won’t sit on a “big potty” either. I got the folding seat at Babies r us, but have seen them at Target, WalMart, etc. Take care, Dawn From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Carolyn or Visser Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2006 11:25 PM Subject: Re: OT - POtty training and preschool fitgrl222@... wrote: > The only question I have is how do you we do this when we go out like > say to a restaurant and then to Walmart or something, I can't tug the > potty chair along and she has never sat on a big toilet hmmmm. i used to have a kiddie toilet seat that folded up and fit into my bag. it would fit inside the bigger, adult, toilet seat on a regular toilet. :*carolyn. -- No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
Thanks for mentioning this - I was wondering how this would work once we got to that stage! Guest guest
He just sits on the end of it and has to hold on. If we're in public, I have him hold on to my hands so he's not touching the seat. Darcy > > In a message dated 1/27/2006 7:34:01 A.M.
