Guest guest
hi , > For example Ambrette Seed - i know is a base note, > fixative thats > musky. Might be handy to say whether people think > its a worthwhile > purchase? i thought i'd chime in on this one because it's something i have been immersing myself in recently and i adore it. (that, and it's fun to try to put scent into words!) i have a co2 and an absolute. i prefer the co2 to the abs, though i like to blend them together. to me, it has a soft haunting floral note behind the animal musky tones that weaves itself between the other oils in a blend and seems to outlast the musky bit. i mean haunting as in ghostly - something that you only notice when you aren't looking for it-out of the corner of your eye, you turn to see and it's gone, but it comes back again when you turn away - " what is that smell? wait, no, it's gone now...oh!, There it is- what is it??? " - that kind of haunting. the " floral " aspect is the dusty dry kind you might smell in the attic going through your great grandmothers old boxes and accidentally brushing against some dried flowers she tucked in a book- you can't really identify the scent anymore but it somehow still says " flower " . well, maybe " flower & time " - i think if the passage of time had a scent it would be that aspect of ambrette. on top of all of that, it still manages to be languid and sensual without becoming cloying, crass or overbearing. so yes, i think it is more than well worth playing with, and is something i would rather not live without (given the option). sorry to go on so, (obviously) i love the smell... :-) ~kerri ____________________________________________________ Sports Rekindle the Rivalries.
