Colleagues,I apologize for not keeping this list up to date on the status of the FMCSA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.As you probably know, we have finished the development of the training program and certification test, which will be required of all physicians to perform the CMV medical examination for all truck drivers.The Federal Motor r Safety Administration published the "Proposed Rule" last month, and opened a public comment period that will close on Jan 30th. At this time, the proposed rule requires physicians to attend a training program followed by passing a certification test (written/computer generated). The FMCSA can issue the Final Rule as soon as the comment period ends.Although most Docs would prefer not to be required to attend training, it is this aspect of the program which opens a tremendous opportunity for our profession. Those docs with busy offices will likely not become certified, which will leave a void that can be filled by chiropractors.If you are not familiar with the NRCME program, you can go to the following websites for additional information.
