Guest guest
Herbs that are good for inducing sleep include hops, skullcap, chamomile, passion flower and valerian. Since he won't be drinking it, it all of them are good. It is wise to give him a sleepytime or goodnight tea (made with chamomile and peppermint) with dinner, allowing time for him to relieve himself before bed, and it is a good way to relax kids before the bedtime ritual begins. Works great for my 7 year old twins!

Guest guest
Pat, Lavender, chamomile and lemon balm are good choices. A cuppa hot tea with lemon balm and chamomile before bed may help too. Guest guest
This is off the subject of the pillow, but I give my son a cup of catnip tea at night. It takes care of his " extra energy " , and his night terrors are turned to sweet dreams.
Guest guest
Chamomile is really good for calming children Pat… www.WildPetals.com too active grandson Hi all, I need some help. My 6 year old grandson has yet to sleep through a night. He wakes up several times, I think he relives his day. Needless to say, his poor mom (and grandma) are getting pretty tired too. I would like to make a " sleep " pillow for him to see if it helps. I know lavender is good, but what other herbs could I blend with it that would calm him, and yet be safe for a little one. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Pat Woodcreek

Guest guest
Had that problem with my daughter. Problem turned out to be not enough rest! Weird. Anyhoo, increasing afternoon naptime by a little bit and a nice lavender bath at bedtime cleared the problem right up, thank goodness! The lavender bath works great for frazzled moms. PS was given an herbal quilt for her birth and it had lavender, lemongrass, camomile and sage in it, smelled great! Too bad the herbs have been washed to death! Someone makes them and sells them as SleepyTyme Quilts, sorry don't know who, it was a gift. Barb too active grandson > Hi all, I need some help. Guest guest
I think peppermint is included because it is a digestive aid which helps get food moving while sleeping. Also has a good flavor! Mainly, though, it is the chamomile and other sedative herbs, like catnip, hops, passion flower, etc. that will help calm him. SleepyTime tea is a Celestial Seasonings blend available at any supermarket, and they usually have a generic blend too. In health food stores, there is a relaxing blend (I forget who makes it) but it has those basic ingredients. Calms Forte, a chewable chamomile tablet, is available at healthfood stores too. Made just for relaxing and calming (hence the name) and my son loved them. Another idea is to paint his room a nice shade of apple green, which is a calming color too. Everything helps with these little bundles of energy! Blessings,
