D2 (sorry, no subscript) is from veg sources and is what you'll invariably find in "chalav Israel" ("Israel milk") milk--kosher milk that's found for sale in religious neighborhoods. I know that quite a bit of the D3 available is from animal sources but I'm not sure about the particulars (sorry). Either way, Vitamin D is fat-soluble so be careful when you take it. I'd just go with a good commercial supplement or even a good multivitamin that contains the amount you need (I realize this is heresy to a lot of folks here). Solgar is a very reputable brand and there are others as well, e.g., KAL.

hi everyone

my vit d level is low 28 - my doctor wants me to take 4000 iu .. i have been at this for months without any movement. do any of you know of a valued brand or supplement you would recommend? also what say you re..d2 vs d3 ( i have been taking d3). im thinking of trying drops since i have been taking softgels with no improvement. lastly i know eggs and milk have vit d .. anything i might put in a smoothie? thanks! pam

ive been getting sunshine and trying to suplement with vitamin as well as food

sources since august...ive sported a great tan that lasted into october rofl and

still low level. im gonna check out that website too.

In the winter I take D3, 5,000 IU 3 times a day. I get my Vit D levels tested annually.
