An extra little chromosome,

that's all it is, you see.

Where all of you were born with two,

I was blessed with three

Well, you can always find out the day/time they are going to observe and

make sure she's sleep deprived and brings a snack that she absolutely

hates :-) You know, the opposite of things you do each day to make sure

Sydie has a good day, LOL.

Seriously though, if they don't agree, then you would have to treat it

like any other disagreement, whatever the chain of command is in your

district on up. You would have to decide if it was something you were

willing to go to due process about. BUT, many of our kids have 1:1

paras in the full inclusion setting, so hopefully they will agree and

you won't have to worry about what to do next. Did you give them a list

of reasons that you think she needs a 1:1? I can't remember what we

said, but I did stress that wasn't fully toilet trained at our

first transition meeting (which she wasn't), which got her the 1:1, but

I didn't tell them at the next meeting that she was, and they didn't ask

about it, so I don't know what we would have had to do to demonstrate

need w/o toileting skills. That said, she's in 3rd grade now, and

they've known she's toilet trained since the beginning of kinder, and

they've never said " let's get rid of the aide "

I hope Sydnie gets a 1:1 soon, and that she gets a good one! We have

had our ups and downs with the aide over the years, but she has

certainly contributed to 's successful inclusion at our home

school, without a doubt.
