Guest guest
What was the chiropractic bill that Gov Kulongoski vetoed? Guest guest
House Bill 2588 the Chiropractic Workers' Compensation Cost Comparison Study, comparing the cost of chiropractic to medical treatment costs of common musculoskeletal injuries (e.g.., neck, lower back etc.). We had 43 legislators that stepped up and support the bill as sponsors and they were almost evenly split as per numbers of both Democratic members and Republican members supporting our proposed bill/study. What we asked for was very reasonable and responsible (SAIF Corp words), but the Gov states that if the Management-Labor Advisory Committee (MLAC) doesn't approve of a work comp bill he will veto the bill....and veto he did. The MLAC vote was actually 5 yes and 3 no but since they have a BS double majority voting system (you must have 3 votes on the labor side and 3 on the management side) they supposedly voted the bill down because the 4 management members of the committee present that day split their vote 2 yes, and 2 no....hence not a majority or three votes so the whole thing supposedly failed which is BS! In other words your governor allowed two non elected officials to circumvent the will of 90 elected officials representing 4 million Oregonians... please point to where that is written in Oregon's constitution! BTW your Governor is about to be replaced! Guest guest
In the early eighties I treated a law practice associate of the dear man. She told me that he referred to us as "Quackerpractors." I replied, "Ted who?" If he is ousted this election I think we can count ourselves lucky he did no more damage to us than he has managed to date.(IMHO). Rick Balsiger, D.C. Guest guest
Wait a minute, I don't mean to be ignorant here, but if memory serves...wasn't our current Gov the INSURANCE COMMISSIONER during the 1990 passage of 1197? Wasn't he Goldschmidt's "top expert on worker's compensation?" Wasn't he gloated as saying, "They were severely limited in their practice...I don't think there is any question about that." And, didn't he warn physicians [M.D.'S] that they're "responsible for justifying any referrals to chiropractors?" And, wasn't he the one who proposed that the "30-day period starts the moment an injured worker seeks any care--even from an emergency room?" And, as Gov, he's vetoing pro-chiropractic workers compensation legislation...? Huh...Imagine that... (:-) M. s, D.C. Guest guest
Yes , it was HIM! I suspect he has been an AOI backer and a chiropractic impediment since 1990. Probably more covert now though. Guest guest
Sunny : only if the new one is better, which I fear he is not. Unfortunately, Kulongowski (whom I have never liked) appears to be the better candidate. Guest guest
Guess I lit a fire with this question. Thanks for all the replies. I am still supporting Kulongoski- for other than chiropractic reasons, and sending him a letter telling him I am a reluctant supporter due to his opposition to the chiropractic profession, whatever good that will do.
