Guest guest
I knew there was something I forgot to mention the other day! Thanks to Debbie Z. for being such a good sport when I took her box away. And thanks a bunch to whoever put together the box I stole!!! It had aloe vera gel, some chocolate kiss fo, paint pots, and a full set of Milky Way paints. I have been dying to try those, but hadn't gotten around to purchasing them yet. Thank you! And - I will apologize on behalf of all of the yankee swappers that none of us followed the rule! For those that didn't attend, everytime a box got opened, we got scolded for going over the $10 limit that was set. ROFL! All the boxes were filled by very generous participants! Thanks to for organizing that & I promise next year to behave and follow the rules! Guest guest
here are the Yankee swap rules: Yankee Swap Rules: Participants bring an item wrapped in a plain brown box or a used (used or we could get in trouble with the PO) priority box turned inside out so that no one can identify one person's item from another's. Only the outside of the box should be unidentifiable. The reason for this is that if I knew what you were bringing and I wanted it I could pick that box and hope no one decided to take it from me. Packages are placed on a table. Everyone picks a number out of a bag, # 1 picks a box, opens it up, shows to everyone. #2 picks a box, opens, shows everyone and has a choice to swap with/ #1. Every person has a choice to swap with/ anyone who has gone before them. Because #1 had no one to swap with in the beginning, he/she has the choice to swap with anyone at the end. The best # to pick is #1 because you have your choice of all the items even if they have been swapped 10 times before you. Things get passed around quite a bit and even if you have grown attached to what you picked you have no idea what you'll end up with. We've set a $10 package value in the past. You can include supplies such as mango butter, lip balm tubes, bottles, FOs, powder shakers, beeswax, molds, herbs, colorants, etc. You can also bring something that you make such as candles, washcloths, soap bags, etc. You can include any labels, identification etc. on anything inside the box. After the box is chosen and opened it doesn't matter if we know who put it in the swap. It's really a lot of fun to see: who will steal a box from someone else because they like it better; who will try to hide their box so no one will remember what they got and steal it; who steals a box from someone and then gets it stolen from them. We all have lots of laughs and there have never been any hard feelings at the end. Shaye
