Let's see....since I'm single, I do all the cooking. And I fix gourmet foods

such as Hamburger Helper, grilled cheese sandwiches. My specialities are the

chicken from the deli and Papa 's pizza!!! lololololol

Bev,

I'm with you...although right now, it's hard to tell that I like to clean my

house!! It's been a rugged week at work. Lots of hours, not enough

therapists. I separated my shoulder at work last week and am on restricted

duty, which makes it's rough to do anything!!

,

Maybe a match between Karrie and would work!!! He could cook the

eggs and Karrie could peel the bananas. She's discovered she can do this on

her own. Once she ate 6 bananas in one evening (without my knowledge). Now,

she just unpeels them and lets most sit.

She can also open a mean bag of potato chips!

But did he eat it???? Karrie is a girl of very plain taste. Not sure she could

go for such exotic combinations!!

Karrie needs to have her chips in a bowl, since she, too, will eat till the

chips are gone.

After I posted that this morning, went into the kitchen and made himself

a mustard and strawberry preserves sandwich. Mustard is not easy to clean!

They could have fun together. also will eat a bag of chips unless we

put them in a bowl. I have to buy the smallest bag of grapes - otherwise,

would eat too much.

Yes, he ate that sandwich! GROSS!! His hands are stained yellow. He does like

mustard next to his ketchup for foods that he wants to dip.

I have to admit that dipped corn dogs in both ketchup and mustard is one of

my favorites!!

Karrie (and Kate and my mom, for that matter) hates to have her foods touch

on her plate.

What a combination!! If you had made that and given it to him he

probably wouldn't have eaten it but since he made it himself--Well!

When I r ead my message over I realized I made a mistake. All the talk about

mustard had me grossed out I guess. The sandwich I made in my sleep actually

consisted of 2 slices of bread with dry cocoa in the middle. I don't think

I could have eaten that even in my sleep. Ugh! Jessie

Grant, my nds son, made a " delicious " sandwich for himself once. It consisted

of two slices of bread, shredded ham, a hot dog, topped with peanut butter and

ketchup! It about made me sick to look at but he ate every bit. Darcy

is the better cook in our house. He worked to get his master's degree as

a short order cook. I like to do yardwork much better than any housework. I

honestly believe that tv keeps women in the role of doing ALL the work with both

working in the household. JMHO. Name an ad that has a man doing housework

without a woman.

RE: cooking- non ds

While I am sincerely happy for the women who enjoy the cooking that is

expected of them, I am not one of them. However, I do love doing laundry and

don't even mind cleaning bathrooms.

I'm afraid that there is still a lot of sexism regarding whose role it is

to do the cooking. Here in the DC area, there are a lot of men retiring in

their 50's, and just like Cheryl's situation, the wives often continue to

work. Unfortunately, I don't know of too many cases in which the at-home

males have taken over the grocery shopping and cooking.

As for male cooks: my uncle, the chemical engineer, is a master chef.

Growing up, everyone was always thrilled to have him visit on holidays, not

only because we really enjoyed his company, but because all we had to do was

set the table.

My oldest daughter's boyfriend, who grew up in a very conservative

European country, made quite an impression on his second visit to our home

when he cooked the dinner for us!

Bev

I do the cooking at our house .... I love cooking and I am an EXCELLENT

cook.

I don't know about more men cooking but honey, I sure have met SO many

women who do not cook! I would never want to miss out on so much fun.

Ahhh Elaine-

I hate the garbage funneled into our lives by t.v. also. Just once I'd like

to see a commercial or t.v. show with the men skimpily dressed and the women

fully clothed.

I've always told my husband that if he expects me to work, I expect him to

do his share of the housework. When I was working, he more than pulled his

weight.
