Guest guest
- Thank you for all the good information. For those of you who have replacements, do they restrict your driving as they do when you get your original ICD? Thanks. Guest guest
Beverly... I had mine replaced, holy cow, coming up on 3 yrs ago now? ... WOW! ... seems like only a few months ago ... crumbs, before I know it I'll be needing a replacement for the replacement \o/ ... but anyway... I had absolutely no restrictions on driving afterwards and both were done by same EP group ... now the first time I was suppose to go for one year w/out driving... state law in NJ was that you had to be symptom free for one year before you could resume driving ... and as far as I know, it's not the placement or replacement of the unit that mandates to driving or not to drive but the fact that you've been having episodes of passing out or uncontrolled arrythmia that might cause you to pass out ... also, in most cases, when they replace units they don't have to replace the leads so I'm not sure how getting a new ICD would cause fluctuation in your heart unless it would be from when they test the new unit ... anyway ... don't be worrying yourself over driving after replacement ... and for that matter... don't worry over the surgery either ... it's so much more easy to go thru than initial implant I can't even tell you... but I think all that have gone thru it will agree w/me... peace of cake by comparison JES in NJ The best revenge is to live long and well!
