hi all,

First I want to tell ya'll this is a wonderful group. Sometimes I post

and can not get right back to read it. Like yesterday, I posted in the

morning. Then my help came into work. I have picked up another store

and getting ready to do a web site. I do read all posting. It is hard

sometimes but I usually find the time to do it.

Ok I have two questions. How much is the going rate for massage bars?

I was thinking maybe $4.50. And can you refridgerate them to make them

come out of the molds easier or will that work?

Thank you all

Donna I think it depends on the type of packaging you do for them. I charge

$5.00 for mine and put them in a tin. I refridgerate mine and they pop out

great.

Donna, what you charge will depend on what you put in them. I have one that I

use emu oil in..so I would charge more for it.

Another little tidbit I picked up from a dear friend was to use candy molds

to make my molded message oil--each little one is enough for one message!

Yes, freezing them does help them to unmold faster, but you may need to let

the air dry for a few days b/c of moisture.

Hope this helps.

Wll now that might depend on your local area as to how much you can get.

I've increased all my products to $1.25 per ounce from the $1.00 per

ounce, and for the lotion bars, that's $6.00 now. Have not had a

problem with a drop in sales since the increase. You should be able to

refridgerate them without any problem. Might sweat abit if they get too

cool.

That price seems too low. Around here they are $6.00 +.

Hello everyone:

I made lotion bars for the first time and found this thread very helpful!

Two quick questions: do any of you add color? If yes, what colorants do you use?

(I don't

know much about colorants that work well in oil).

Seems like packaging them in tins is a great idea; any good online suppliers?

I found it helpful to cool the molds before pouring the mixture in. Putting them

in the freezer

for a few minutes helped avoid " sinking " and the bars popped out much easier!

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Irina, I ordered my tins for my lotion bars from sks-bottle.com. I got the 2 oz

size with windows on top. My lotions bars fit right in and looked good in the

tins too. I can't help much with the color. I actually had some blocks of soap

colorant (I think) that I bought off ebay. I just shaved a little off to melt

in my mixture. The colors were more pastel, though, so I'm sure I didn't have

the correct colorant for them. They still looked good, even if they were light

colors.

a, thanks so much, I appreciate your advice. I've been looking around for

oil-based

colorants, but haven't found anything yet that I think would work for lotion

bars. If I find it,

I'll make sure I'll post it here ;-)

I use jojoba spheres and lip balm colorant to color lotion bars. The jojoba

spheres are great, a bit pricey. the lip balm colorant is more cost effective.

I have heard from friends that they use micas, but I have never tried with

that.

I sell these all the time. I call them " solid lotion, " and sell them

in a scented and unscented version.
