Guest guest
Hi and Welcome. I have a 5 month old daughter, so I can feel your pain. Anyway, I think several people who start out on this group (including myself) were leaning toward selective or delayed vaxing, but it really doesn't take long to be convinced otherwise, so I would say that most people here have come to the opinion that vaxing is bad altogether, but this is something that developes over time by reading, reading, reading. There is not one thing that you can read that will convince you one way or the other. It is something that will develope over time. Learning about the diseases that you are vaxing for is also important along with learning about your health in general and what to do if you encounter a disease (which could happen even if vaxed). When you become more afraid of the vaxing (and unknown effects) than you are of the diseases (with known effects), that is when your decision has been made. Guest guest
Hey, Malia, welcome to the group. I think there are people on here who do delayed vaxxes but they don't post. The people who post regularly are all against vaccines. My son is 7 mos and as of now we are not planning to vaccinate him, but I agree that it's a very difficult decision because it's hard, as a layperson, to know whose science to believe, and to wade through the rhetoric on both sides to discern the truth. It seems almost impossible to find data that isn't being put forth as an argument for or against vaccines. Very difficult as a parent to know what to do. Lots of good info here, though, if you can keep up with the volume... :-) -Angie On Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at 01:56 PM, Malia wrote: > Hi group! > > My name is Malia and my hubby and I are the proud parents of our > first baby, Lily, who is 4 months old. Guest guest
One more thing I forgot to say -- you mentioned that you have to carry your baby around all the time. Maybe you're already doing this, but wearing your baby in a sling is a good way to keep her close and it frees up your arms/hands (at least somewhat) to do other things. Just a thought. -Angie
Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome..... Yes, we have 3 baby carriers. A pouch sling, which we never got the hang of and Lily hated. An over-the-shoulder-baby-holder which she will occassionally tolerate. And an Ergo front carrier which she likes the most, but still doesn't want to be in it much. Where do you recommend I start with all of the info available? What was particularily helpful for you in making your decision? Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome! I know it is a tough decision. One of the hardest of my life. Hubby and I are both leaning towards not vaxing at all, but we are not comfortable enough with our decision to be able to defend it well. malia > > Hi and Welcome. Guest guest
No time and no money to take one of your classes right now, sorry As for my pregnancy and labor/birth...everything was great! No complications or problems during pregnancy. Labor was quick and relatively easy, no drugs or interventions...started breastfeeding right away...... Guest guest
Hi, ! I also have a 5000; I traded up my 4000 some years back and went the extra mile for the red one (love it!). BTW, my buddy Steve is from Columbia, Missouri. He's a world-renowned cheese authority--clearly, Mo. produces some good people! Introduction and hello  Hi-- My name is and I am pretty new to this list. I'm excited for the discussions and new ideas, recipes and friends. I've used a vitamix for many years. My mom bought a reconditioned 3600 back in the mid 70's. She used it some and then it got put in the cabinet. I got it from her and used it almost daily for years and years. It finally gave out and about 3 years ago I bought a reconditioned 5000. I LOVE it!!! I make smoothies almost every day (especially green ones!). I use it for hummus, ice creams, soups, etc. I'm always ready for a new vitamix recipe or a new way to use it. A friend of mine just found out she has diabetes and I'm trying to convince her she needs a vitamix!! A really good ice cream is one cup of coconut milk and a 16 oz bag of frozen pineapple (found it in the frozen fruit section at WalMart). It is really good and has such a refreshing taste. By the way, Lea Ann, I live in Springfield, MO, just down the road from your hometown of Lebanon! Thanks so much for starting this group!
