Sorry the baby is not feeling well Just an FYI 100.8 is not a very high fever and just should be allowed. Chamomilla is not the automatic remedy for teething and he doesn't fit the chamomilla picture at all. I will send info on some teething remedies, but mostly just wait and allow BREASTFEED him lots. Temps can go as high as 106 and I know that would panic most. You dno't have many symptoms to go on Is he clingy? Does he want you with him? Guest guest
Hi-thanks for getting back so quick. Yes! He is very clingy and wants me with him (his usual state anyway!). He is also nursing a lot. We have been nursing on and off since my post (hour and 1/2). He is also a little whiny/restless at times, but mostly quiet...he still feels very warm. But if he notices I am away-he sreams for me back and quiets once in my arms or at my breast. It appears his symptoms came on slowly. Breathing is slightly labored. Hope this helps. Thanks for your help! Guest guest
The high fever is the body's way of dealing with a problem. The body knows what to do a lot better than the doctor. The higher the fever, the closer it is to solving the problem. To artificially lower the fever is outrageous. When a person dies with a high fever, which is very rare, it is because the problem was too great; and no doctor could have done any better. As for antibiotics, drugs etc. A great farce. This may partly explain his increased feeding although bf babies do feed a lot when unwell and this helps them to recover so much more quickly. Sometimes we just don't know what is causing a fever and bf plus mother care are the best treatment for a baby. I would just wait and see, most babies are fine as long as bf with teething or any other health problem. Ingrid ( BF Counsellor)

My son had the flu twice and his fever was sky high ( I don't know how high as I never measure it, I just feel his forehead and use that as a guide)and I knew that this was his body fighting it and I was actually grateful for this.He recovered well and is as healthy as ever. Had it not been for what I had learned about fever, I would have been worried but now I know the body is very wise and knows what it is doing, as long as you don't interfere too much. Guest guest
Thanks for your recommendations. I have learned a lot recently and want to take care of this baby in ways I never did with my first because I was not aware...I just went along with blind trust of doctors and the medical field. But this isn't without growing pains! It is easy to say I won't do give Tylenol or meds but when your little love is sick and not feeling well, it seems that resolve can fly out the window out of desperation and it is easy to revert to old ways of doing things. I have not given any meds (yeah!!!) but my son is still feverish. I know I have to ride it out and take care of him, but how do you know there is not some kind of infection? I can treat that naturally, but need to know what to treat as a baby can not articulate what they are feeling. How do you make them comfortable or relieve any pain while undergoing natural treatment or riding out a fever while the body is recovering? Again, this is all new to me and it is to helpful to hear from people that have been there and can help. Thanks- ingrid5317 <ingrid_schebesch@...> wrote: > > Hi . Dehydration - if not drinking enough fluids, and not peeing in diaper, etc I'll send more on that. If he seems to have a very stiff and painful neck, that is a sign to get help. You have to trust your feelings but also know that sometimes your feelings are brainwashing. Its tough at first. That's why I teach the class you figure out the symptoms and then the remedy that is right. Lots of fluids, breast milk if possible. Feverish is good - a sign of a strong vital force. Guest guest
Of course you want to be on your guard with babies but if breastfed, they usually recover well, even if the fever is high. Sometimes we just don't know what is causing the fever but we need to be able to trust the body to do what it does best and not interfere with vaccines, fever suprressers, medication like antibiotics etc. Giving fever suppressers will just mask the symptoms and give you a false sense of security. Also, they can damage the baby's liver. Sheri N. has got lots of info on damaged livers due to Tylenol in babies and children. Be aware as well that once the medication wears off, the symptoms will come back even stronger and it will take longer to recover then. Breastfeed your baby excl. right now, no solids, no water, just breastmilk (which contains all he needs) and his body will do the rest. Breastmilk will give him magic medicine, as I call it and it is amazing when you see them recover with this alone. I have been through what you are going through so many times now, I lost count. NOT ONCE DID I USE TYLENOL, I tried (before I knew better) but my son fortunatly refused it and he knew what he wanted - breastmilk. Hang in there and keep an eye on him, feed him lots and mother him, that is the best medicine in the world. Hugs, Ingrid

Sheri Great to hear this from you again and again, Sheri. You can't imagine how grateful I am for all this info and for your hom. class. My son owes so much to me finding out this kind of info and learning, learning, learning! Ingrid > >
